setting timing engine stalls

Hey everyone
finally putting the omni back together for cecil this weekend
put the head back on, steve's big cam, turbo's unleashed adj. cam gear straight up, new t-belt, had another very pick td'er double check the timing belt marks, motor fires right up, idles great, pull the coolant temp sensor and the engine dies after 2 sec. like someone pulled coil wire off
I was able once to keep it running playing with the throttle ignition was bouncing between 8 and 12' so I know the ignition isn't way off

any clues???????
got fustrated and didn't test drive the car yet but never had a problem like this before

Some do this, some don't. Its like playing russion roulette, lol. I found that sometimes, I had to rev it up, then slowly idle it back down and this would help. Other times, It would idle perfectly.
