Last issue was about 6-8 weeks ago if I remember correctly.

Bill Last issue was late July / beginning of Aug and had the first part of SDAC-17 recap.

I'm working on the current issue but have had some delays due to my schedule getting some unexpected activities.

Was the last issue #113, August 2007? Perhaps my dog ate the last issue or two. She has a paper fetish. I wish I was kidding. She has eaten uncashed checks and money off my dresser. A newsletter is certainly within her appetite. One set of keys are missing too, but I think I heard them go through the snowblower.:o

Yes, sadly that was the last issue (almost 6 months ago). I really am working on the next issue though. I've had some problems getting around to the newsletter for some time. Folks will get their membership extended because of the tardiness of newsletters.

I have worked on it. It is getting closer. I would like to say it will be worth the wait, but I don't think anything I could do would make it worth waiting this long for an issue. I am going the extra mile on it, it will be color and a page or two longer than usual. Besides the final part about SDAC-17, I have 3-4 articles folks have submitted.

This is the first time in years I have enough articles to do more than one or two issues. There should be a couple more issues following quickly behind this one. As I will need to get SDAC-18 registration details out also.

I appreciate the patience you all have shown, and your good sentiments.

Well, then. I'll make it my goal to make sure there are plenty of newsworthy activities at SDAC 18:amen: If we keep increasing the jet size until the motor goes boom, is that worth an artical:D? BTW I've started my collection of airbags when 1/2 price day rolls around at the yards, I think I have 4-5 already. I think we need to devote some more time to what kind of energy they have. Been kinda wondering if we can lift someone with one.:thumb:

Oh, here's a good trivia question for you guys! (a 2 parter)

What SDAC was the first time an airbag was set off? And who did it?

Here's a hint, last year was not the first time.

It may have been before then but that was the first time I remember it happening and I've only missed SDAC-10 (and non existant SDAC-9) that was in Canada since I first went to SDAC-8 in 1998.

Since it appears we are out of guesses on this ...

At SDAC-6 in Topeka, Ed Peters strapped an air bag to a trailer and set it off. It was part of a "safety demonstration" to show how violent air bag deployment was. Ed had advised everyone that had airbags in their cars to disable them prior to running on the road course (he was chief instructor for us that year).

I can't remember a year where we haven't set one off..

Air bags are fun, We use to have a annual airbag extravaganza in Fondulac. One of the guys grandfather owned a JY and he'd pull the bags but it wasn't worth while selling them because you have to get them recertified or something like that so he'd bring them out to the meeting. Here's the aftermath of one night. I think we got bored and ran out of things to put on top of the airbag before we ran our of airbags. If you figure 1000 bucks a pop we've probably blown over $75,000 worth.

Got it! Nice write up. I really enjoyed the racing pics and article. I kind of like that it was 7 months later....brought back some summertime memories!

BTW, I noticed that where you talk about the poker run cruise, you say that you dont understand why such a fun event isnt very well attended........just a little feedback on that.......I didnt go b/c it was such a long distance. I figured 100 miles in my car would have been slightly worrysome (some bugs left to iron out), time consuming, and expensive on gas. I dont know why others didnt go, but thats why I skipped out. Seems like a really cool idea, but I would be in if it was more like 50 miles and an hour or so from start to finish.
