Hello,

Looking to do a 5sp swap into my 1994 Plymouth Acclaim.

I have looked at the sticky and it has wonderful information.

However, I was wondering which transmissions will bolt up to the 3.0L V-6?

Also, which one would be the best if there is more than one?

Also, would the clutch pedal assembly and the 568 cables from my R/T go right into the Acclaim for the time being?

Much Thanks

the 543 is the only trans that bolts to the 3.0L.

yes you can use the R/T pedal/shifter stuff.

youll need a 90+ 523/568 trans mount too.

Next Question...

What clutches can I use (besides stock)?

I have not found any aftermarket clutches for the daytona/shadow.

Will any 6g72 clutch work (ie Mitsu eclipse, dodge stealth, mitsu 3000gt, etc)?

Any input is much appreciated.

Most of the ones you listed won't fit. Your best bet is a middly upgrade from a Spirit R/T clutch from TU. His clutches rock!

How is a 2.2L/a568 clutch going to fit a 3.0L/a543 setup?

Is that what you meant to say?:confused2:

Just fine! The Spirit R/T clutch setup for the V6 is more then ample and feels great. That is what I used to run on my old V6 5spd.

Believe it or not, the 543's use the same input shaft as the 523 and 568. The only thing you have to worry about is weather it's a large spline or small spline input shaft.

Pretty sure both wink and I would go with a 6 puck ceramic in a 3.0. TU sells them as do just about every other clutch maker on the planet.

543 is just a 523 with a different bellhousing cast into the case.
For some reason newer TD's and 3000gt's have the same exact flywheel bolt pattern. Cant buy their clutch setups because flywheel probably woulnt fit with the starter or maybe not even in the bellhousing and you would need a custom center on the clutch to fit the dodge imput shaft.

You know what I'd recommend!!!!!

Oh wait, didn't I do that for you?:D

I hope you're happy with your current setup.

Next question...

Would you put an aluminum flywheel on a 3.0?

Any benefits/consequences.

Also, FWDP says that their 2.2/2.5 fidanza flywheel will also fit the 3.0.

Is this correct? Because I can not verify this anywhere else.

Also, I need to find a flywheel (stock or otherwise) for my 3.0 SOON because I will be doing the swap in the near future and my tranny swap package did not include one.:(

Any advice on where to find one? (the junkyards around me SUCK!!!)

Yes, I would. I wish I had another aluminum flywheel.

The 2.2/2.5 and 3.0 use the same flywheel. I would definitely get an aluminum flywheel, that's what I'm doing along with a t2/t3 clutch.

As stated above, they (2.2/2.5) will work for the 3.0L. Now, if you don't want to spend that much on a performance part, Autozone sells resurfaced stock units for a good price. Luckily when I did my swap, I had a donor unit to turn in for a core charge. That being said, I paid less than $50 for mine. And without a core, I believe it's less than $100.

I loved my Fidanza aluminum flywheel! The engine reved so much faster. No bogging during the launch. I highly recommend it!
