Bought a freshly rebuilt 555 tranny w/ 0 miles on it(Rebuilt by Cliff Ramsdell). All cleaned up tranny looks brand new. But now my priorities have changed and I'm not going to be needing it on the car.

Bought it for $650 shipped.

I'll sell it for $550 if you come pick it up. Pick up would be HIGHLY preferred due to the weight of it. However, if absolutely necessary I can ship it for $550 + the shipping costs.

The tranny is located in Lakewood, Ohio (44107).

Also possibly selling my TU performance head. Haven't even put it on the car yet. They go for $1000 @ TU brand new. Taking offers on that.

What was done during the rebuild?

I'll have to send Cliff a PM and ask him if he can remember exactly what he did. I had all the emails saved on my laptop which broke so I don't remember what exactly was done to the rebuild.

$650 shipped sounds like a regular rebuild with no bad parts. So it would have been broken down, all hard parts inspected for wear and or damage, washed, painted and put back together with new seals, bearings and shift fork pads.

Who ported it?

Who ported it?

You'd have to ask Chris who he has do that. I bought the "Performance Cylinder Head" from www.turbosunleashed.com so if you want Specs and what not you can look on there. It is the swirl head as well.

I'm not 100% sure I want to sell the Head but I'm putting it up to see if I get any offers on it for the time being. I'm still debating on what route I want to go and I'm kind of going back and forth on weather or not to keep it.

All my transmissions get new bearings, seals, shift for pads, dissasemble, clean, wash and paint before assembly.

That's what Cliff said was done to it.

Woops, thought I edited the post way earlier with that. It's a swirl head.

I'm not sure so.... My guess is the answer is probably no.

would any mods have to be done to use the 555 in my 84 turbo z? it's a stock engine, but an auto. I think the mounts are different. I'm in PA and it'd be worth it for me if it's not too great of a pain to put together.

I'm not sure of what needs to be done to switch.

In my charger I have to cut and move the shifter forward a couple of inches and use an omni passenger side half shaft, a couple of other things as well. I forget exactly what. It wasn't too hard though.

555 in an 84 might be a problem only if the input shaft size is different nad 84 is the year of the small spline, i think 85 and up are larger and 85 started using 520s in some as ive seen, 555s in 87

Putting it in an 84 wouldn't be any different than an 85 or 86. In 87 is when the 520 came out, and the larger spline axles.
All you need if some different axles from any 87-up G or J body, you'll need to change the shifter and cables (any G body 5 speed from 87-89, doesn't have to be turbo either), and you'll have to do something about the bobble strut mount for 555 fitment. Thats it.

Would you consider selling the shifter and cables separately from the trans?

I'd prefer to keep them together but if nobody is interested in the tranny soon I may consider parting them just to get them out of my house. I'll let you know.

I bought the tranny for my 87 shelby charger. I'm not sure what exactly it came out of but I was told it would fit in my car.

did cliff tell you which type of synchros were replaced when he rebuilt it? single peice or multi peice synchro?

is the VIN still stamped on extruded rib near the clutch lever?

He did no specify no. I'll check the VIN this weekend. I don't have the transmission here at my house.

I forgot to check the VIN when I was where the tranny is. I'll check it tonight when I go there!
