View Full Version : 86 T1 auto boost cut?

Hey guys, Ive got a 86 chrysler Ny and I installed a MBC on it today. The car has no boost gauge, no air fuel gauge, or a tach. But, before you yell at me I had my OTC 2000 plugged into it and was monitoring the boost, and knock with that :)

So I installed it and had trouble getting it over 40 KPA (6psi). Finally got the MBC installed and it was over boosting around 55kpa (8psi). I switched to monitor the map sensor's volt output and cutout seemed to hit at 4.2 volts. Its been awhile since I installed a OBE on a TC but 4.2 sounds about right. So is the KPA reading wrong or is the boost cut lower on the older TD's?

thanks
Dustin

heh, convert to 87 T2 and you can have my 14.3 cal :)

It should not be cutout no matter what cal it is. Those cars ran 7PSI stock, so a cutout of 8PSI would be a nightmare, as it would inevitably spike from time to time. I think a decent boost gauge is in order.

codes?

Its throwing code 22 and 45. So it is cutting out. I really doubt that it is cutting out at 8 psi. Im thinking 4.2 must be the cutout on the older ECU's. I read on TDG that 4.3 is the cutout so T2's so it must be close.

GLHNSLHT2 How much do you want for it? Im beginning to think a HG swap is in order soon, and I might as well swap to a T2 setup while it is apart. (Im also thinking of swaping to 84 rods and pistons, but thats for another thread, lol).

it's a custom cal based on the stock calibration. OB is turned off, factory boost set for 14.5psi (highest you can set it) I ramped up the boost curves too. Right now it's tuned for FFV injectors but I can easily have it cal'ed for stockers or whatever. I need to redo the fan schedules anyway. They're not right and the fan turns on at 160 and never turns off right now. Easy fix though.

Boost cut out on the T1 (for my 85 Charger and my friends 86 Laser) was around 12 psi.
