I am curious how full people fill their trannies? Or more correct, how full it should be filled.

Fill it until it comes out of the hole with the car level, with the driver side lower or the driver side higher?

On the manual transmissions, leave the car level and fill it up untill it comes out of the fill hole, then reinstall the plug. If it's bone dry, it should take around 2.3 to 2.5 quarts.

jack the left side up as high as you can get it and fill that thing till it pours out The 5th gear is on the outside of the case and has a hard time getting oil. You want it as full as you can get it.

I do, do it with the drivers side up high. I was wondering about over filling it and getting oil out the breather thingy. I think I may be getting oil out of mine and making a mess on the garage floor, hence the question. :D

if you're worried about that, fill it on level ground till it comes out the fill hole, drive it around the block, let it set, then top it off.

My 520 with an OBX bone dry took 2 1/2 litres, about 3 quarts. I had the front wheels about a foot off the ground, rear wheels on the ground.

They take a little more with them tilted up like that. If you don't put the fill plug in and lower them, they will leak out the fill hole.

For easy filling with the car on the ground, get one of those trans funnels with the hose and shut-off valve (not to be confused with a beer bong, lol) and you should be able to fill it without too much trouble with the wheels turned full left. :thumb:

Hey, thats a good idea! I use a condiment bottle like you see Ketchup (Catsup?) or mustard in at diners.

I have a hose I just screw on to the oil bottle. It works very well. It was just a couple of $ at Canadian Tire. :D
