Mine has the vin on it. Was this normal?

All of our cars should have the last 6 digits of the VIN stamped on the trans, regardless of automatic or manual, even the non-numbered cars.

I checked another non shelby car and it also has the vin #. So false alarm.

Yep, the vin is aways on the engine block and the trans. If they match the car's VIN that makes it "numbers matching" for the most part.

Interesting!!! I knew some cars came with it on the blocks but never the trans. I have yet to see any on the blocks though. Where is it located, pics of both block and tranny anyone?

There are two ridges to the right of the bell housing. The front one has the number. You need to really clean the gunk off. It's more of an engraving rather than a stamping for the transmission. I think the engine is on a back ledge on the driver's side.

The engines have it on the drivers side just above the bellhousing and beneath the cylinder head. It's usually very difficult to see as they are not stamped very heavily, a good coat of paint can obscure the numbers.
