see the thing is ive always been a honda guy but i never get the amount of torque that i want/need, so ive been thinking how about swap a 2.2 into my 90 crx they seem about the same size as an h22 ( common honda swap the biggest of them all) so i dont think i would have to reinvent the wheel, has anyone ever heard of someone doing this.... any help is appreciated, thanks.

kyle.

i need to get a starter and the timing all set and then the baron should be good to go i got a score i think, its a 89 baron gtc hardtop without power options which ive heard is rare its got a t2 motor with a garrett and a tri-5 with a new clutch the body is pretty shitty so i think after this winter im going to scrap the body and keep the motor trans and harness/ecu hey would u happen to have a junk motor and tranny laying around i think i want to try and stuff a 2.2 into my crx... oh and im not going to be able to go to the strip i dont have plates or anything on it yet lol soon thought, soon.

it was in ada mich i payed 350 for it and im going to start mocking ---- as soon as the baron gets on the road. yea id appretiate that i think that mounts are going to be the hardest part we will see god the crx would be a monster with that in it oh and the barons got a 3in dp with 3in exhaust into a dynomax muffler doesnt sound that bad in my opinion lol.

was it for sale on the net somewhere or just a random encounter. i must be slipping cause as cheap as it was and the distance i usually snag them up real quick.

its good cause sandy briggs was getting lonely being the only td'er in holland other than the crazy old man dufus wild

The swap would be doable. For starters, you'd need custom motor and transmission mounts, and a LOT of custom wiring.

If it were me I'd just turbo the H22

I remember seeing a CRX a few years back with a 2.2 Turbo swapped into it, but it was put in the back of the car and drove the rear wheels. Never seen one swapped into the engine bay.

Go with the H22 it would be much easier.

h22's are crap, there closed deck design from Honda does not like power. and the h22 swap is not the most common swap, the b16/b18 swaps are. The h22 is also bigger than the 2.2

Spirit of Boost

yea i have a b16 in it now i want more torque lol, thats why i want a 2.2 in there lol

I will do this some day.

I measured a CRX at the J yard, strut to strut is almost the same as an Omni.

I have a L body K member, steering rack, struts, motor, trans - with some welding it can be done...

What's with the CR-X guys becoming TM guys lately? lol j/k My buddy Brandon (ShelbyLancer455 on the board here) has his Shelby Lancer and an '88 CR-X HF that we just got done swapping a B16 into. He's got a JDM header on it and a Skunk2 intake manifold. THe engine itself also came with the YS1 tranny. I was just busting your balls though, good to see another guy into TM's :thumb:

I am an ex Honda person....the only thing I like about them more than TD's is the readily available parts for anything you want from 1000's of vendors.

h22's do like power.... once you get rid of those nikasil cyl liners and put something good in. :)

but a good resleeving job is 1100 bucks....and that's just to get the bottom end to like power....you will have atleast 2500 in the short block alone, just to let it handle some decent power.....that's not including the headwork since the h22 doesn't flow very well.

those are all reasons why i want to put a t2 in my crx lol the best honda factory motor is the h22 but it is also the most expensive to make it have a ton of torque and power unlike the t2 which has it all stock, plus u no how bad a it would be to drive my crx whoop on someone and then show them what im packing.... lol.

I have a video of a dodge 2.2 turbo in a mid engine RWD crx. If you want I can post it, but the quality of the video sucks.

Saw that car a tri-state this weekend running low 11's. Super lite car + Slicks + Turbo = low et's

I allway's heard that they had problems with some vtec solenoid or somethin in that nature when they turbocharge them

 You go to UNOH don't you...

Bone stock H22's do 107% volumetric efficiency by 7200 rpms, IE, does not have a bad flowign head.

We made 368 WHP and 305 WTQ on a box stock H22 on only 8.5 psi; I'm not sure how that's not good.

Absoultely. If you look closely to the background of some of the header pictuers you can see his motor/setup mocked up on an engine stand :p

Video wasn't that bad. Anyone know where that car is now? Looks like a pretty cool fab job. I like the hand brake idea.
