OTC 2000 wont turn on... [Archive]

Picked up a OTC 2000 the other day. Finaly got around to hooking it up in my 86 NY and it wont turn on. I really dont know how to turn it on so that might be the problem. lol.

So how does the OTC 2000 turn on? I hope it isnt bad...

just plugs into the ciggy lighter and turns on by itself. Try another car.

Does it need a cartridge in it to work? Does it need to be plugged into a car(the socket)?

For the scanner to work you need four things:

Cartridge inserted into scanner
Chrysler cable for the scanner
power for scanner
have the key to the run position

so it looks like the cig lighter in my NY might not be working. I went and plugged it into my jeep and it didnt turn on, but I oviouslly didnt have it hooked to the car and that might be a problem. is it?

im sorry for all the questions, But this thing has no manual and I really want to get it working.

So I need

Cartridge (have 83-88)
12v
Chry cable hooked into dig port

so once I have all of those working it will turn on? Is that correct?

I believe it needs the cartridge inserted to turn on, otherwise it will do nothing.
