I think people have milked about 600whp out of a stock motor but I wouldnt try that much. Mopar thinks that it can do 370whp so that would be my guess

everything i have read, with a GOOD tune 450 is safe, 500 is doable but it will fail eventually at the 500 level. the trannies break at this level too.

500 is asking for trouble, but achieveable. Tune up like any car is important and err to the side of caution.

i can answer this post with confidence cause i've been there. i have a pt cruiser but it is the same motor. mine could run all day long at 432whp which in my opinion is perfect for track and street. it will put you in the 11's for a quarter mile and is very streetable horse power. the car can handle 500whp but it will not last too long under hard driving everyday. most important with those kinda numbers is a great tuner, that is the key. as for the most you can put through the motor, well i did 8 pulls on the dyno over 520whp up to 599.9whp at 667tq on stock internals, but after driving for a couple weeks after that i started to have some blow by coming out the valve cover. i took the engine appart to take a look and i had cracked ring landings in pistons 1 and 2, and 3 and 4 were perfect. all pistons had not even a mark on top of the pistons and rods, rod bearings, crank, and main bearings were perfect. i pushed it cause i was building a motor anyways. let me know if i can help with any other questions. the tranny and axles are different so i have no comment on those parts.

oh and i put 33lbs boost through the stock block also

450ish sounds about right. We built an 04 with a 50 trim that just went 11.61 @ 123.5mph on 26-27lbs boost. Runs 20 on pump all day long on the street. (more because he's already traction limited at that power level than anything else) Cars been together for 2 years, no problems. Complete stock longblock from intake on.

Sweet I am aiming at 425 hp, looks like an attainable goal.

what is an ideal turbo that would put it close to its limits (or) just be a good all round turbo.
i'm thinking on the one thats on my spirit R/T witch is a
.63 turbine
super 50 trim
.50 a/r compressor

or maybe a little bigger because the neon is a 2.4 spirit is 2.2 head flows about the same
let me know what ya'll are running
