I got a wierd question. Today I cut out a bad section of carpet that was really oily, moldy & falling apart when I found an electrical plug under the carpet on the driver side. It's with the rest of the wires that run along the side of the floor & was wondering what this plug is for?
Just wondering as I had not seen that on previous GLH.

I found a similar plug that was missing on my VNT Shadow. The leaking/burning turbo always stuck up the ----pit and figured it was worse than it was...now i know why...except why it is there.

Hmmm.... Interesting. The question goes on about the mysterious plug under the carpet.

It's a two pin connector. The seatbelt is still plugged in so I know it's not that, as is the parking brake. I'll see if I can get a pic of it.

Signal wires for the charge for the ejection seat. Bond, James Bond. ;)

Power seats... GM did the same thing. I tshould be the positive and the ground. One is probably hot and the other is not. Use a probe and see. Wires are plumbed if the option is added later(i.e by the dealer)

But, this is on an Omni. Power seats were never an available option on the L-body's

Hmm... is it possible that that particular part of the harness was shared with another body type? I know that GM was notorious for doing this which was why you could add accessories so easily later.

Other than that it, would have to be for something used in the area of the drivers door. Some kind of sensor. Anything in the center console area would have been routed through the console's harness. Maybe it's a sensor for the "door ajar" voice-over guy.... :D :thumb:

This is the plug that comes up the slit in the carpet under the drivers seat? Found the same plug in the shadow when gutting it.

Finally got some pics of the plug in question. Hope they are good enough to shed some light on the mystery plug.

According to a glance at an 86-87 wiring diagram, assuming the wires are black/yellow and black/pink... it appears to be for the interior dome light.

Hmmm.... kinda wierd since the dome light is hooked up to the factory harness. I guess this is a mystery that will remain unknown.

Kinda looks like the AC plug at the compressor... ;)

Tomorrow I will check my car. It has all the options and I'll see what the plug looks like on the enthusuiast seat.... just for shats and giggles...
