Note this is what $275 gets you. Should I junk or fix it? Anybody have a GLH (N/A or turbo) around me

yeah, easy fix. Cut out the bad, weld in new. Ive had to do the same thing on my GLH. If thats a GLH-T in gold, you gotta save it anyway! Its a requirement of ownership! ;)

I mean it's easy to repair unless you have really rusty frame rails.

Floors rust here in the states also, for every 1" of snow we get they throw down 2" of salt, cars don't last very long like that.

Anyhow, the gold car can be fixed from what I see in the pictures.

Nothing some 18-20 gauge sheetmetal, and some nice welds can't fix....

Anybody know anything about decent fiberglass rust repair. The body teacher at my school said that you can do it but he didnt explane.

Get some nice sheetmetal, cut out the bad rust, create a pattern on the new sheetmetal, put it into place with some vice grips, weld it in, epoxy and seal with por 15 around the pattern, rubberize undercoat when finished.

You can do this man1

I am going to fix it. The L22 in that Z is done plus I dont feel like looking it over in the rain. Has POR 15 gotten cheaper? last time I looked at it it was like $50 a quart.

He shouldn't be teaching body work if he said it was ok to use fiberglass to repair rust.

^^^^ 1+ sick things happen when fiberglass is used to repair rust. As in it rust where it was screwed then rusts further than it was.

I broke fiberglass out from where the biggest hole is. Rivets? Screws? the car dosent exactly move right now and the electricity in the shead wont hold up to the welder.

extension chord. Or move the car where you can get electricity to it. If you fix it any other way than that you will regret it later.

A friend of mine from Egypt showed me how they do things over there. Needed parts are a can of rubberized undercoating and an old terry cloth towel. After removing the rusted metal, spray around the area with the undercoating. Next lay the terry cloth over the hole. Spray the towel with the undercoating both top and bottom. I was surprised how well that stuff worked initially, how much structural support it added, and it actually seals against water infusion so it protects against further rust.

I used sheet metal screws, a roofing shingle, and some roofing tar on my first car to plug the huge hole in the trunk.
