Hey guys, quicks question. The matco truck guy has a old otc 2000 scanner. I can get it at a decent price, and want to know if I can use it to monitor knock on a TD? And If it will, what cartrige do I need?

thanks

Dustin,

Check out this page:

Parts 1,2 &3 tell you what you need to use an OTC on our cars, then you can monitor knock.

I actually read that yesterday after looking for info on them. But, can I moniter knock without a laptop?

Yes you can, the scanner has a dataline display that lets you choose which live data points you want to look at (8 data points total can be displayed at one time). You can set it up to show the Knock Retard (in degrees) for each cylinder. That is what I did for a year or so until I started data logging.

I use my OTC 2k to watch the knock as well. Works great with a wideband and a tuneable ECU.

Bought it, Ive been to busy to try it out on one of my cars. Maybe this weekend I will get a chance. Im going to try to turn up the boost on mky 86 ny without adding any after market gauges... we will see.
