Will removing the purge and egr solenoid connectors on an 85 t1 engine throw codes or dash light? If so, can a diode be used to stop it and what type? Thanks

You will get codes for both, yes. You can bypass them with a resistor to suppress them.

Will the cel come on and will the codes affect drivability or just be a nuisance? And what resistor do I need? I have some and used one on my shadow for same reason but it's been so long can't remember which it was.

I asked because I modified the solenoid 'bracket' eliminating the unused half.

It will light the CEL, but it won't effect drivability. A 50-ohm power resistor emulates a solenoid very closely, however this has proven to be unnecessary. A 500-ohm 1/2 watt resistor should suffice.

Cool, thanks Russ.

I went to Radio Shack and all they had close was 470k ohm 1/2 watt and 560 ohm 1/2 watt. At first I couldn't decide but since you didn't mention a k I got the 560 ohm resistors. I tried a search on td since there has been alot on this subject there but there's like 15 different resistors people mention. It started to confuse me.

Thanks again.

That'll do it.

I removed mine, it never lit the check engine light but it did log codes whenever i went to pull them.
