'88 2.2L turbo 5-speed for sale. I went over the bottom end of the motor and replaced the seals and HG and it has less than 200 miles on it. It has 85 larger rods and 88 T1 pistons. I reused the 85 Rod bolts. the rings are still from the 88 but I did a light hone and they seem to seat well. there are new Clevite rod and main bearings. I installed a stock T2 intercooler but it needs to be mounted better. There is a grainger controlling the boost set at 5psi right now. This car was originally an automatic, but I dropped the 5-speed into it from another 88 shadow. There is a new clutch and the flywheel has been resurfaced. it also has the updated chrome moly plate in the 520 trans.
paint is crap. typical faded 80's paint. car is black with a red turbo bulge hood and a primer roof. the floorpans are solid even at the e-brake hole.
car is on 15x6" Crab wheels. Tires arent bad.
the turbo is a mitsu from a 89 lebaron GTC. it had a 2.5" outlet and the shadow has a 2.25" downpipe so I stacked some donuts to get it to seal and used some longer bolts and springs. it works ok and seals up fine.
the work that still needs to be done on the car:
- both front cv boots need replacing.
- I began re-locating the battery to the rear of the car due to the limited space after installing intercooler (I have most of the hardware already)
- bobble-stut mounting bracket needs to be re-alligned (I welded the bracket on when I put in the 5-speed. It's an inch off)
- the wiring harness is from an 88 T1 but the ECU is a 88 T2 so there is a CEL for the lack of the wiring for the Charge Temp Sensor.
- power window switches. I think Aries_Turbo has them at his house.
I will post pics as soon as I get them...
If anyone is interested, please pm me, or post here. Aries_turbo helped me toss the car together two summers ago to get it running and it runs decent.
