I have converted my shelby charger to TII, and I just picked up a GLHS rad/intercooler setup, is there anything else GLHS specific that I need, to run the stock TII airbox, etc?

I know that rad hoses will have to be modded somehow but I don't think that will be too big of a deal,

Also I have heard that there is a notch in the hood for the rad cap? If so does anyone have a pic so I can see where I have to cut? (my glhs rad hasn't arrived yet and the car is at the body shop awaiting paint right now and I would rather cut now before paint)

Nahh you just need to trim the stock TII airbox back by removing some of the outlet on the front side so that it is a little shorter. That is all the GLHS box was.

I actually have both of them here and am supposed to see what kind of shape they are in for someone but I keep forgetting until it is late at night. :(

L body TII (GLHS) airbox bracket is different IIRC. Slightley tighter bends make it more compact. It is TIGHT fit with the airbox and battery...

Maybe these pictures will help. It was the best I could do with the bracket still in the car.

There is NO notch fro the Radiator cap.

If you look at the underhood picture that I posted, you'll notice where the underhood mat has an imprint from the radiator cap. It's right in front of the hood bulge.

On an Omni there is a portion cut out of the hood support. The diagonal support that runs underneath to the front of the hood has a peice roughly 2 1/2" long either cut out or cut then pounded flat.

Here's a poor pic that shows where it needs to be modified. It's in the upper right corner with the ball peen hammer marks. You can see the 2 cuts that were made to help it flatten out easier if you look closely.

here's a pix taken of my car way back in the 1st summer i owned it (2002), car still had the wrong valve cover and still had the a/c installed and still had 100 tons of rust proofing goop under the hood.......you can clearly see the chunk of the bracing they cut out just to the right of the vacuum diagram decal. hope it helps.

The airbox bracket sets it closer to the throttle body. You'll need to shorten the outlet on that side of the box. You can live without the bracket if you don't have the right one.

The notch in the hood is only necessary for the Omni.

And you said you couldn't do hammer and dolly work . . .

And a Shadow, just fyi. ;)

thats good news, I really didn't want to notch the hood,

thanks for your help guys

I'm trying to get the engine bay to look as though if it was from an 86 or 87 GLHS. So at least when someone comes up to the car they would think everything is completely stock.

sorry to bring this back up, are the intercooler brackets glhs specific? I pieced together a glhs rad and intercooler (bought from separate people), but I don't have the brackets....I've heard I can mod the daytona ones, but I've already got the other glhs specific pieces, it would be nice to have a complete setup.

I don't know about the bracket being specific on the intercooler end of them. The 86 GLHS brackets will bolt right up to an 87 Daytona TII radiator though. I wish I had the other half of the info you wanted.
