well about 3 weeks ago i started running this daytona i just bought. paid $300 for a 1989 daytona shelby. the car is rough on the outside, and was runnin kinda rough when i brought it home. overall so far i think i have something like $150 more invested in small mods like a boost controller, 2.5 in exhaust(downpipe to 1ft long straight pipe, to a meijer 2.5 cherry bomb turbo muffler)and new vaccuum lines and some other small appearance/ monitoring stuff.

this past friday night, i borrowed R/T's slicks, and turned the boost up to 13 psi. car is now consistanly 15.7 at 86ish. best run of the night came on my second run, in which the little old leaky, rusty, paint peeled, $300 daytona went 15.197 at 88.5 with a 2.008 60 ft :bolt: this is the best pass i have ever made in any car:number1: the best part was i was racing some special kind of mustang....Gould or something of that nature and he was trying to launch at WOT on streets, and as R/T said made an a$$ of himself losing bad to the little daytona his reaction was ~~~>:mecry: mine was ~~~> just thought i'd share nothing special but my best so far.

Sweet run dude. Lol we can have El Cheapo wars now, I got an '87 Shelby Z that I just dropped an engine into, I have literally nothing in the car. Who can go fastest for cheapest? :D Is your's T2'd?

Heh, we should get up our own "grassroots challenge" kinda thing. $1000 FWD mopar, run up the strip, run around the cones, concours judging etc.

That sounds a little slow for TII @ 13 psi.

I just ran my friends stock 85 shelby charger. I ran a 15.42 @88.5 w/ 2.18 60ft. Boost was at 10 psi. Its not intercooled of course, and has the log intake. I know its a few hundred lbs ligher than a daytona, but i weigh 250 lbs. Race weight was 2700 lbs.

best i could ever get out of my 87 S/C was a 15.7 @ 87 on slicks and 12psi, and yeah the daytona is 300lbs heavier, but i don't think i am the best shifter in the world either. I wonder what could be wrong with my driving other than being afraid to break something by power shifting. the other consideration i take is this is not jut a t2 daytona its a t2 daytona that has a motor with 130K on the clock and that has, I'm sure even beat, seen much better days. oh well i'm happy lol now its time to start losing wieght in the car and gettin some more fuel and boost. some extra parts and new times will be coming shortly

It must be the shifting. I slam through the gears and about rip the shifter off the floor.

TII cars are not that fast in stock or close to stock form. Don't forget this is an old engine. 15.1 is pretty good in my opinion. I had a TII Shelby Z that wouldn't go faster than 15.5 with the same mods, no slicks though.

The trap speed looks slow to me.
But hey, u cant complain when its a $300 car.

Looks like a very reasonable time for a stock tired t2 daytona. 175hp stock + tired engine + upgraded exhaust and boost controller, low 15's sounds very reasonable to me.

well this little heavy weight tired daytona just hung in from a roll with a big bad v-8 mustang. i was cruising around tonight and behind me is a nice mustang.(gt prolly, but dressed up as a cobra-r) now i'm not the most knowledgeable, so my first thought was NIIIIICCCCCEEEEE, a cobra -r?!?! get him next to me finally and am able to yell out the window, "real cobra r?" response is no. so i'm just puttin along and i hear his revs start to come up as i get farther along next to him :eyebrows: so i bring mine up in 3rd and start clutch boosting......soon he hits it and i drop the clutch at about 8psi of my now 13 an we run up from about 35-40 to about 70 before i lifted. could have gotten a chance to talk to him cept i had to turn and burn down some back streets cuz as we both lifted, he was makin alot of noise in the window of a hamilton county sheriff's cruiser going the other way. was a nice and fun run and i was supprised he didn't pull away from me:thumb:
