Alternate parts thread-OEM to aftermarket-post findings!

Thanks to Simon and others who contributed to the original thread...:D

Post parts you have found that fit TIII's that are from other cars, and aftermarket suppliers.

1.) The front crank seal is CR part #11111,

2.) The cam seals are #14707-CR stands for Chicago Rawhide. You can use these numbers to cross over to any other brand, IE National etc.

3.) Dodge Viper oil cap, I took the gasket off the Viper oil cap and put it on my stocker.

4.) TI/TII/TBI commonblock can be substituted for a trashed TIII block. Grind in the water pump passage area for clearance for the water deflector. Place a core plug in the distributor hole. Crankcase breather can be added by drilling a hole in the distributor core plug and installing breather there (before installing plug!). TBI block will also need to be drilled for turbo oil return on the rear of block.

5.) Substitute thermostat gasket: Use a thermostat gasket from a '94 Dodge 5.2 V8.

6.) Head studs... Acura VTEC B18C1, 11mm. arp part number 208-4303 they are the 11mm ones for the 1.8 vtec. I had to go this route when building my engine because our vendors were out of stock, but everyone and their mothers sell honda parts.

I found Dayco belt # 5060670 fit with no a/c, the 60 was too short.

You insert vendors choice for the first number, IE Dayco would be a 5060790, Goodyear a 4060970 etc.

GP Sorensen part # CSS40 $38.88 normally stocked (Advance Auto Parts)

It requires cutting the plastic back around the plug, and soldering the pigtail from your old sensor (or a spare HEP... same connector:) ) to the terminals. It also requires filing a flat into the plastic body of the new sensor in the same location as the flat on the stock sensor. Other than that, it's a drop-in replacement. The body is the same length, and the bolt hole is in the right spot.
I just got my Spirit running off of one today, so no long term results yet, but it's working great so far.:thumb:
Maybe someone else can benefit from my experimenting. Sure beats paying $150-$200 for one.:)

At least on my car (1992 Spirit R/T), the power steering pump is NOT Cardone 20-863 firm feel steering - that unit is a Saginaw rebuild, not a ZF. It is Cardone 2040887 (or any of the other part numbers listed on RockAuto), which is unfortunately quite a lot more expensive and also requires sending in the original pump to be rebuilt. I don't know whether Gates 350390 is the correct power steering pump rebuild kit, but I suspect it is, since it's listed on RockAuto as well - so far, for me, RockAuto's been pretty good about getting TIII parts correct (unlike some other suppliers).

EDIT: Well, turns out that Gates 350390 is for the Saginaw, not the ZF. I'll post up the right P/N when I find it.
