Like the title says, I'm putting a CB in a 86 glh and was wonder which belt do I use if I get a 89 wp and use my original alt? Any insight on this would be great.

Thanks

You will need the 89 belt as the routing is different.

yeah, just do as Simon said, but ditch that stock alt. at the first available opportunity. Those bosch alts. stink like it is nobodies business IMO.

Agreed, the Nippo alts are smaller and lighter. You will need the CB tensioner stuff when you swap over.

the water pump will run on the backside of the belt, (reverse rotation pump) as opposed to it running around the water pump pulley, so get one from say an 89 or whatever the block is

Ok so my next question is where do I get a Nippo alt and what cars do they come off of?

Thanks

You can yank one off of most any 92+ 2.2/2.5 car. You can tell a ND alt. from the fact that it has no external fan, and they are much smaller than the bosch units.

This page might help you.

I'm using an early pump on a common block. I used early brackets, pulleys and belt.
