My buddy and I raced his 85 shelby charger again. His best time was 15.9 @ 87. (10 psi)

Here are my runs:

Perfect R/T is .500
R/T.....60ft......330ft.....1/8 . . . . . . . . 1/4. . . . . . . . . . .boost

.505 .. 2.247... 6.643 .. 10.299@67.06 .. 16.1749@83.65 .. 7 psi
.506 .. 2.229 .. 6.599 .. 10.249@66.59 .. 16.131 @83.52 .. 7 psi
.559 .. 2.371 .. 6.683 .. 10.217@69.24 .. 15.8681@87.38 .. 10 psi
.507 .. 2.400 .. 6.581 .. 10.146@68.31 .. 16.2351@78.69 .. 11 psi (OVERBOOST!)

The car is stock except exhaust. The engine is a 2.2 TI LOG. For exhaust, it currently has 3" to the rear axle, then goes to 2.5"

Any comments, or suggestions?

Hack off the exhaust after the down pipe, and before the cat.

Damn it was hard just to sit and watch Friday, I'll probably run the car next week though.

I would, if it was my car. I doubt he is going to want to do that to his new exhaust. BTW, he is not running a cat.

I think just about everybody that was there told him to hack the exhaust off.

If anything he should've had Muffler man run a 3" side exit with a glass pack.

It would've been quiet, and wouldn't be corked off like the new exhaust he put on.

Yeah, stupid muffler man gave up on trying to bend it over the rear axle. I told him to just go with side exit but he didn't want to. I doubt he's going to keep it like that forever. At least 2.5" over the rear axle is still a hell of a lot better than the stock 2".

With out a doubt its still better than the stock 2".

way way way better. With stock exhaust, the max trap speed was 80 mph. Replacing the cat with a straight pipe increased it to 82. Open downpipe got it up to 84s. With its current exhaust, its hitting about 83.5 @ stock boost, 87 @ 10 psi

cool that you kept track.

times still seem a few tenths off for a log with exhaust @10psi in a charger, but you are soo far ahead of where you started, theres no complaining. :)

yeah a few tenths off, but how close is the 87 mph trap speed?

Just a thought, but why not add a 3" cap style cutout in the downpipe. That's the route I plan to go so I don't have to listen to a 3" over the axle pipe rattling and banging around.

i think 87 mph is perfect for a log/charger on 10psi with a 'decent' exhaust upgrade.

I'm thinking the car should be able to run a 15.5 easy with a good launch

Here are my suggestions; 1.Get a cut out riser so you don't hit overboost shutdown. 2. Grainger the boost to 12 psi (if no grainger now). 3. If you want more than 12 psi, add some race gas. Go up in boost slowly, listen for detonation and check the plugs.

I'm assuming you have a good boost gauge. If not, GET ONE, so you know where you are running! If you go over 12 psi, get an air/fuel meter to make sure you have enough fuel for more boost.

With race gas, and/or alcohol injection, the car should be high 14 second capable.

We are running a decent boost gauge. It seems to be pretty accurate. It sits right at 7 psi when using the stock restricter and solenoid. Boost cutout is right at 11 psi psi on the dot. We are using a manual boost controller right now, and it works great. I have it set so it sits right on 10 psi @ full throttle. I want to be on the safe side and run race gas anything over 10 psi. I also have a decent a/f ratio gauge that will be installed soon. I believe we can get it running 14s with the log intake. We will be converting to TII later this season. Hopefully the car will be running 13s by next year.

Running 14's with a mostly stock SC should be a peice of cake considering the car already runs mid 15's stock. Turn the boost up to 13psi, make sure everything is tuned properly and get some traction.

Not trying to nit pick just trying to give you a goal. I'm sure the first few times I go to the track I'm gonna be looking at a string of times that don't show my car's potential.

IMO MPH seems a little low. My SC with similar mods trapped around 90. I actually went 94 running 13-14PSI.

THIS CAR IS NOT A T2!!!!!!!!

i have to agree with this on the MPH thing. his mph is always going to suck as long as its log. 93-94mph on a log as mentioned is pretty nice, but as you can see spraynlog was going significantly quicker and only trapped 90, and only gained 17mph in the last half. thats shitty for a 14 second turbo car, but par for the LOG course :)
