L-body: 89 SMEC engine harness to 86 dash harness

First, this is NOT in my GLHT. Its staying 87 electronics.

Now, will an 89 SMEC engine harness in an 89 Omni plug into the dash harness from an 86 Omni? IE plug and play.

Basic story: I have an 89 TBI omni that Im going to derby. Ive saved the stock, GOOD, dash harness from the car. I have a "race car style" dash harness from an 86, ie everything cut away thats not needed to drive the car. I want to put this in the 89 Omni. Will it work?

Nope. The 89' uses a 50way connector, the 86 will have the older 40way.

well, that sucks.

now what to do.........

I guess all I really need is enough wiring to start the car and make it run. Does anyone have a pin out for the 89 l-body SMEC harness @ the dash?

Also, what about an 86 l-body dash harness?

I have done it. I have an extra 95% complete harness in my attic if you want it we can talk about a price.

I think all it needs is the headlights finished up. I made one for my car and then it didn't start so I got mad and made another one. I realized when it didn't work the second time that it was just because the starter solenoid wasn't connected properly... DOH!

I might have the connection list to chop off the 50 pin connector and put a 40 pin connector on it in one of my notebooks but I am not sure where it is now.

name of the game with the derby car is low buck extreme! ;) So I dont really want to spend any money. I figure all I need is to add 2 or 3 wires to the engine harness for the ignition switch.
