O2 was bad already. Have any pics of a proper port job?

What size SV is it? If its just the 2.25 id find a 2.5 and go with that.

Same here. I have always been hesitant to hog mine out, as I figure it could mess up the seal that the DP makes. Would it not make even more of a difference running a 3" pipe since it takes such a beating as it is.

no pic for me either.

If running a 3'' DP on a 2.5'' SV, the donut BARELY seals anyway. You can hog it out until only about 3/8'' is left if that, 3/8 is playing it safe. I'm going with a 3'' V-band outlet for my next build so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Here is a pic of what I did, and how not to do it. :o

I just looked at prices for 2.5" and 3" SVs and all I can say is eff that. To me, it's not worth puting that much money into a small T3. My plan is to make my own 3" SV, and if I screw that up the bigger turbo goes on.

Ouch, yeah the objective is to make the hole bigger. What you ground on is the sealing surface.
If running a 2.5'' downpipe, you can use a 2.25'' ported swingvalve and make it flow more than a 2.5''. But you cannot run a 3'' downpipe on a 2.25'' swingvalve.

EDIT- Tell you what, I have a 2.25'' swingvalve laying around, I'll port it out and get some before and after pics of what it should look like. It might not be until thursday though I'm kinda busy tomorrow.

It's kind of funny, I'm not sure what I was thinking.

LOL, well atleast you did it on a dime a dozen 2.25'' swingvalve and not a 2.5''.

That would be great, thanks.

BTW, what were you using to port with?

ground rat, you can get a stock 2.5" swingvalve off an existing TII turbo. They are in the 89 cars.

With a die grinder and a good cutter, it takes only a couple minutes to open up a 2.25" to 2.5." Dont touch the ring surface, just the inner wall. A F.M. 3" d.p. will bolt onto it, as it has a 2.5" neck.

OK I put about an hour into it, took out enough metal to fill up my hand easily. BoostGeek I have no idea how you can do it in 5 minutes, I have an hour into this and it's not finished. I have not done any polishing, just the rough in with the carbide bits and die grinder. If you look close I made the one side slightly larger than the other, I wasn't measuring I just guessed. The opening is now 2 5/8'', not bad for eyeballing it. The donut still has 3/8'' to seal up which is plenty. I also opened up the side that bolts onto the turbo and smoothed things out.
Like I said this is a rough job I didn't do any polishing or cleaning.

Oh yeah you know I remembered halfway into porting the outlet that I didn't take a before shot. So here's the ''halfway'' shot LOL.

If you have a good die grinder, big compressor, and an aggressive cutter, you can lean into it, chunks will fly everywhere. I didn't bother polishing it, been running it for ma couple years now...

I have an electric die grinder, and double cut carbide bits. I can lean into it with pretty much my whole strength if I want too. I was coated it metal shavings from them spitting everywhere. Had a bunch in my hair too. I did not just open the hole, I practically re-shaped and smoothed off the whole swingvalve. This thing should flow really good now, and you can sure easily get that 5th swingvalve bolt on really easy now.

You guys may want to place a 2-1/2" downpipe onto the SW and see what is needed before hogging anyhting out. Not much to remove in the donut area when using a 2-1/2"
