EGT probe accuracy...

I'm using a small tap-in probe I bought off of e-bay along with an autometer EGT gauge and it seems to register very high. Valve timing/ignition timing are right on the money and fuel isn't an issue. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

It's on the #4 runner about an inch from the cylinder head.
