Are the TBI SMEC's and turbo SMEC's physically the same? except offcourse for the software.

I'm pretty sure not. Hopefully somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it is that the logic board might be the same, but the TBI power board only has 1 injector driver. Don't take my word for it though, I'm not 100% sure.

I am thinking the same thing Tony. So I would say not the same.

BACK FROM THE DEAD . . .
Has it been proven not to work?
Is there only 1 injector driver, or is it software controlled???
I have an 88 tbi computer I want to try if nobody knows for sure...

Plus, the TBI computer logic board doesn't have some of the input signal conditioning hardware. I don't think it will take the 2 HEP inputs, it only has the hardware for 1.

How about a V6 logic module?
Same HEP issue?

Actually, a V6 will run a turbo cal and engine, from what I understand. It simply has an 'extra' injector driver. Which could actually be used for something else - like say an alky injector? NOS Solenoid? You get the idea...

Has this ever been done?

Una (Brian Schultes - not on TM.com) tried it. I think he still has it up on his website, but I forget the address...
