I'm wondering how quick any of you have run the 1/4 mile with stock cast pistons in a 2.2 or 2.5?

Off the top of my head for Chicago folks with stock cast pistons...

SDAC-CL NewYorker went 12.64 @ 105.99mph
Paul Smith's Caravan went 12.65 @ 105mph
Clark's SC went 12.68 @ 107.84 mph
My full interior stock shadow went 12.89 @ 104.5mph
Tom's '86 GLHS Clone '86 Omni went 13.00 @ 108mph

and others at the link below are using cast, all the faster ones are now running forged

When you are inexperinced with high boost, Forged pistons are a waste IMHO, because you haven't figured out how to blow motors yet. I'd feel much better if I wiped out a cast piston'd motor if I had no clue what I was doing playing with 20+ PSI of boost vs a forged motor. Rock those cast pistons till you are a pro

Bryan Lugert made 340 or so WHP and ran in the 11's with a stock longblock.

Gary Donovan ran low 11's with stock mahle cast pistons in his K-car. He never would have done it with any other cast piston. If using cast, use only Mahle.

I'm going to attempt the 11 second mark running a set of stock Mahle T2 pistons myself. I have the utmost confidence in them. The buick grand nationals run a basically cast piston and can break into the some serious fast numbers with them. Its all in what happens in the compression and power strokes that determines whats going to happen to the piston. All forged means to me is more room for error. A cast piston can be lighter as well in some cases. A good bottom end would be cast crank, forged rods and cast pistons IMO at least for a budget build and still can be made fast. Check out Mahle's website. They definitely have a reputation that can be backed by quality as well as enthusiasts here on the boards.

Well I'm going to try and run low 10s and into the 9s with cast pistons.. but in a gutted out 16v omni so it's not as big of a feat

lol.. still could be tricky, but if you got plenty of fuel I think the sky is the limit or at least we can find the threshold in which cylinder pressure goes far beyond the limits of even the cometic, but I think the HG or piston rings will go before the pistons themselves. I will be running a full interior SC.
