On my way home today I stopped at a guys house that had the hood up on a TC. Turns out its a 3.0 and it dies when put into gear. It idles nice, but as soon as he drops it into gear it dies. Poor guy has been replacing sensors and has no clue whats up.....and to be honest neither do I. I got him to sign up here (Kamil) but maybe he's shy or doesn't know where to post....so I'll help him out.

Idea's???? OK.....GO!

does it lurch badly when going into gear i.e. converter locking up?

other than that, i would check for vacuum leaks. a map-sensor engine can run smoothly with a pretty big vacuum leak then die when the idle motor opens it up even more. what happens when he turns the a/c on?

In adition to what is been said, check the timing as well!

The whole car doesn't lurch, but the engine torques quite a bit. He's already checked the MAP. I don't know about the A/C. Maybe I'll stop by again today. Thanks for the input guys!

Not yet. I'll stop today if I see him out in his driveway.
