The weather was nice here, so the Late Night Drags at PIR were running. I changed the oil to Mobil 1 10w/30, removed the spare tire and headed out for a shake down run.

It was really crowded! It looked like nearly 200 cars there. I waited a long time in staging before my first run. I had the boost set around 13lbs.

I got lined up with a Mustang GT convertible an '01 model. It went down like this:
My R/T=.158, his R/T=.158
My 60'=2.30, his 60'=2.28
My 1/8=9.57@73.5, his 1/8=9.53@76.3
at 1000', dead even 12.294 to 12.294
My 1/4=14.93@90.2, his 1/4=14.61@96.7

After the run, I got back to the staging area and about 5-6 people come up, somewhat astonished that the old K-car had stayed nearly door to door with a Mustang GT. We stood around and shot the breeze for awhile....quite awhile actually, as I waited in line for another hour to make a pass.

I figured I could safely go another pound of boost, so I slightly shortened the grainger a bit less than a 1/4 turn. I took another pound out of the front tires, from 25 down to 24 psi.

The next pass I lined up against what turned out to be an 18+ second Honda, so I won't bother with his #s.

R/T=.153
60'= 2.24
1/8 = 9.49 @ 73.4mph
1/4 = 14.86 @ 90.26

So, I broke all the previous record for my car. It was interesting to compare alcohol/water injection to an intercooler in the same car. The intercooler comes out about .5 second or more ahead at the same boost level.

The last time I went to the drags, I brought the car home on a trailer. It was nice to drive home!

Great job! Its always satisfying when you hang with something that youre not supposed to hang with. Then you get the "what the....." stares from everyone.

Nice times. You gotta get the boost cranked up a bit more for low 14's or even 13's!

I wonder how hot that i/c was getting from the hot rad fan blowing on it when in the boost that kept your top end down.

Yeah, it was my first trip to the track with the current setup. I was a bit disappointed to only get 2 runs, but it was very crowded. My thought is to get some sticky tires on a couple of '90 Imperial rims (12lbs) to cut my 60' times. If I can put down a 2.0 60' time, it should cut about half a second off the times I ran. And yes, I could turn the boost up a bit more too.

congrats!

Nice runs! I'm waiting for spring fever to subside before hitting the track(s) here for the same 2 run reason!

Hope you get 10 runs next time!:thumb:

The boost level seemed to stay pretty close to the same. I only made a small adjustment...I remember looking down at it just before crossing the 1/4 mile mark. Looked ot be 13 or 13.5. The temperatures had cooled off a bit, maybe thats why it improved the time a bit, the 60' improvement likely accounts for most of it.
Thanks for the props!:D

After the second pass, I was letting the car idle with the hood open to cool down, I felt the intercooler pipes. The side from the turbo was warm, the side going to the intake was about the same as my skin temp. Not too bad. It was a cool night, temps in the mid 50's. Also the car had a long cool down between runs due to the long wait. I imagine if I were making repeat runs on a warm night, it could be a problem. The car broke 90 mph on both runs, which is the fastest it has gone. Speeds were always in the mid to high 80's with alcohol/water injection.
