I won't lie, I am wondering who owns the #69 shelby cars. I seem to recall that someone still has 86' GLHS #69 in excellent condition. What about car #666? I would think that some people would shy away from that one.

What other numbers are out there like this and what happened to those cars?

The transaxle from CSX-T #666 is in my Shelby Charger. A guy in Nashville had the car and swapped it to automatic.

I owned '86 GLHS #420 for 6 years.

The lady at the DMV swayed me away froim getting GLHS420 as my vanity plate. She didn't know if it would get through the review process as she thought it stood for homosexuals and marijuana. I scratched the idea and went with standard plates.

I would think the same thing of GLHS 666. I think that one would be inherently evil too since it is black. I will probably just keep saving my pennies for #69 though.

Something to do with smoking pot, but I don't know what.

i'm glad someone else spoke up first i was thinking maybe i am too old to know what that meant.

#666 would be a great shelby to own. other than #001, that's the best #.

#013 also an interesting number.

#069? not too sure that's a good car thing.

also what about the shelby # same as the model year?
example: 1987 glhs #087 would be very cool to have.

or how bout this: have a collection of shelby cars of all types all with same shelby #? only one person crazy enuf for that goal: Jonny B (Mr. #141).

I'm not sure if it is true, but I heard it was suppose to be the best time to smoke pot cause the police had their shift changes at that time so there wasnt anyone to bust you for smoking weed. At leat that is what I was told.

There is a guy on here that took the time to # some of them on his cardomain site. It shows the # and a picture.

Significant car numbers concerning only the 1986 GLHS were 289 302 351 427 etc.

Those cars were purchased/reserved by employees/friends of Shelby who had hoped that thay may have a future collectible. As we know that didn't happen once the cars went on sale.

I thought 420 was the police code identifier for drugs or something. Because of that, pot heads have big smoke days on 4/20.

Maybe I'm stupid. I don't get the significance of #420.

Count on the BC guy to answer.

There is no 100% known definition, but many myths.

The first is of course that in California, the police code for people smoking marijuana was code 420.

Second, is that when the natives grew marijuana primarily outdoors, April 20th was the ideal day to put the seeds out, in order to have the crop ready for the fall, when people would smoke it more often (and throughout the winter).

There are also some suggestions about it being related to Hitler's birthday, but I think we can all agree that's just coincidence.

Another popular belief is that students at a certain high school in California would meet up at 4:20pm after school to smoke marijuana.

As for numbered cars, don't think cars #69, #420, #666, don't think they're worth anymore, but certainly they're neat to think about.

That would be me that ownes 69. J.T. Has seen it when I brought it to Volo a few years ago and SDAC 14 at Waukegan. Here's a couple pic's. If you go to SDAC this year you'll get to see it in person. I plan on bringing it unless something comes up. And Marcus knows who I am, he must of had a brain fart. I've sent him pictures and there are some pictures of my car on the SDAC website from 14. These are 2 pictures that Greg Thewes took of his and my car at SDAC 14. The only pictures I have of my car are scans of real photos, so they're way too big to upload. Now that I finally own my own digital camera I can take some of my car.

I have. None of them were too impressed or thrilled about the #. After I first bought it, some guy asked me what # it was and I told him. He then said it should be worth a thousand more just for the #. I got a little chuckle out of that when he said it.

I own 86 GLHS #420 now, I bought cause d I wanted to save another GLHS, not due to the number. However, my wife and most of my friends must have thought I was smoking something when I came home with a smashed up Omni on the trailer and was proud of my new purchase.

Ok, so it seems like 86' GLHS #69 is accounted for, who is going to fess up to owning the rest?

I think the only one that was high when GLHS 420 got wrecked was the guy in the caddy that plowed into it. Ray was weeks away from getting the car re-painted at the time. My family probably thought I was a little loopy for buying it, but I know it can be fixed.

That hatch is off of #455...it was all rusted through. The hatch from that one (#87) is now on #455. It's unfortunate that nobody wanted those quarters when I was scrapping the car, as they were completely rust free and I had nowhere to keep them :o

Yeah some of the parts were sold off, but many are still stashed away in my buddy's garage. I remember that post from years ago about your car getting hail-damaged. You swapped a T3 into your Lancer didn't you? Or did you just upgrade to an SBEC?

As far as I know, my 89 CSX-VNT #414 is the only SD to have been taken overseas and brought back to the states. It was taken to Germany in '96 and was driven as far as Paris and the Autobahn. Although the number doesn't necessarily mean something, it's still a neat attribute IMO. I'm sure some SD's ended up in Mexico, and many in Canada. A few have even gone over to the U.K. (at least one GLHS i Know of). But I have never heard of another being taken over to Europe and then brought back to the states except for mine. It may very well be the most travelled SD ever, having come from the Whittier plant and enjoyed stays in five different states as it made its way eastward to be deported before it finally ended its long journey here with me. :eyebrows::clap:

Yeah the roof and hatch look like an angry monkey with a hammer got to them! So far I've done the SBEC conversion and installed an A568, but the car is still Turbo II at the moment. I have everything in my garage to put a TIII into it including a rebuilt 2.5L TIII short block, rebuilt head w/new guides, Ti retainers and new lifters, and a rebuilt A568/A523 hybrid w/OBX from Cliff. Recently one of my Spirit R/T's spun a rod bearing so I'm not sure if the 2.5L short block is going into the Lancer or the Spirit now.:confused2:
