Hey, i'm looking for a GLHS fan assembly for my car, and i would like to find one soon in good to perfect shape (fan must work) because my aftermarket fan is starting to ruin the core on my rad...

I have Paypal waiting.

If a 87 TII works, got one ready, $40 plus shipping.

Is it off of an L-body?

No, Daytona, sorry, thought I said that. :banghead:

Not sure if there the same?

I'm not sure if a regular TII fan will fit on a GLHS radiator. I think the shroud would be to big around the fan, because the GLHS radiator is smaller...

I thought they are the same size, just a different neck?

GLHS fans are specific
they use a smaller pancake style motor so they clear the oil filter and such
There was rumor back in the day on TD.com about a certain jeep cherokee fan that would bolt in but the plug was different and the shaft was too long (nothing a cut wheel wouldn't fix)

If you want a glhs fan I do have one but be prepared to pay

One other thing you could do that worked good in my race car
Cut out a piece of metal the size of the radiator
cut a big hole in the center for an aftermarket fan
drill holes to mount it in the factory location
space it at least 1/4" away from the fins of the radiatior for the air to pass

works great and will give you more room and better cooling

as said yes glhs fan shroud assemblies (shroud, motor, fan blades) are specific for the intercooled l-body engine area.

also of note: you cannot swap a 1986 glhs fan motor into a 1987 fan shroud, and vice-versa, each year used a unique bolt-pattern to attach the fan motor to the shroud and they will not interchange.

however, if you swap in the entire shroud assembly as one unit, then a 1986 and 1987 assembly can be interchanged on the original radiators and fit fine including clearance for the upper radiator hose.

and beware of the 1986 fan motors, they are notorious for poor reliability on the fan retaining clip, if that clip fails then say goodbye to the radiator, so if you buy an 86 fan make certain that fan clip isnt compromised.

in past few months i have seen not less than (3) glhs assemblies on ebay so check there good luck.

Yesterday i got creative and made a shroud out of a peice of metal for my Flex-a-lite fan, and i'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, so i nolonger need a factory fan assembly. The one i made bolts into the stock location, so it's not wrecking the core with those stupid zip tie fasteners that came with the fan... now i have to run a GLHS style oil filter, because the current filter i have on there right now will not come off unless i remove the shroud assembly, because the fan is to close to the filter now... i'm looking forward to my next oil change, :D At least it should cool better, because it's pulling air from the whole radiator now.
