YOu would be better to find a DOHC aluminum intake and cut it for your modification. The SOHC aluminum intakes came in most 1995 and are had to find. THey are also painted black and look like the plastic SOHC intakes. I have an aluminum DOHC 2.0 intake.

How much difference is there on the way it bolts to the head.

If you check www.neons.org I see them for sale every once in a while. I think to make the dohc manifold fit you have to cut off the thermostat housing mounting area and massage the bolt holes

this guy has two intakes for sale about half way down http://forum.1gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=1261

All kinds. I don't remember the bolt holes lining up at all. I bet no more than 4 line up. For the DOHC, the thermostat area is part of the manifold and SOHC is just air (up to at least 1999).

As mentioned, the aluminum sohc intake manifold is EARLY 1995 model only. I've personally seen 4 in the last 11 years I've been at the dealership. Quite rare.

What are you trying to do with the plenum? Boosted or not?

If you're doing a "build yourself" intake manifold from aluminum for a SOHC neon 2l, The early 95 and 2001+ neon R/T are made of aluminum. The R/T manifold has a tuning valve built into it with a bit of wiring to actuate it. If you find an R/T, you'll want to grab the head as well. It is a direct bolt on for gen 1 neons. Good luck on your search.

I have a DOHC aluminum manifold from a '99 R/T if you're interested in trying to make it work.
