Posted here cause no intellegent responses on TD

So i just opened the box and this 3" ultraflow does not have the 4" internal pipe like my other one does.

Whats up with this???!?!? Im sorta mad....Since this was the only reason I bought it.

I never really cared much for the Dynomax so I never paid attention to them before, but that picture is what I expect from a straight thru 3" design.

The ultraflo previously had a 4" internal pipe......like the one in gus's old muffler tests.

I have one just like that on my spirit.

Personally I wouldn't care too much. The flow isn't going to be impeded at all, plus you get more packing for quieter exhaust. For me that's good because I'm over loud exhaust...I just want a low rumble....

Turbo 3.0's seem very quiet to me under boost. All I ever hear is the turbo.

That's a bummer. That was the only 3" muffler that I knew of that would outflow a piece of 3" straight pipe.:(

Well I called them and apparently this is the current design and its been used for at least a few years :P

Yea, mine was like that. I bought it about 7 months ago. I dont see how opening it up to 4" would really do much for flow.

I don't know how much of a difference it really made, but the point is that it used to be the absolute best flowing 3" muffler you could get (that I know of). The new ones probably don't flow much different than every other 3" perforated core glasspack.

the 4" internal one I have I bought in 2002. hmmmm :P
I understand the idea that changing pipe diameters hurts flow but I was also under the idea that those perforations are worse then the diameter change....Gus's results always taunted me to buy the ultraflo too :P

i can get a nice stainless magnaflow 3" on ebay for much less than the ultraflow costs. i'm gonna get one with a 4" body for a cleaner install and better ground clearance.

I hope this thing actually quiets something then....Im basically just running this muffler off the end of the downpipe.

The perforations probably do hurt the flow a little, but it's gotta be better than the louvered core design.:)
