Will a 3'' exhaust bolt right onto a 2.5'' swingvalve?

Yes if it is the large flange 2.5" swingvalve. The alignment will need to be more accurate and your downpipe bolts will need to have good bolts and springs to keep from springing a leak.

Ok well I'm buying this turbo: http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12610

Does that look like the large flange 2.5'' swingvalve? Or would I be better off going with a 2.5'' down pipe?

What are your goals, that dicatates what size you need. If just a DD with limited track time, stick with 2.5 inch, if doing alot of racing and what to maximize your setup, go 3 inch.

That turbo is from TU so phone Chris, he will be able to tell you,

I'd prefer to go with the 3 inch so if I end up in the future building it up even more or going with a larger turbo then I won't have to buy another exhaust.

At the moment I'm not going very big. My plans as of now are:

Port & polish head
ported intake & exhaust
.63 ar garrett 2
3'' Exhaust (or 2.5'')?
+40's & 3 bar map w/ Cal to support it
Front mount intercooler
6 puck clutch & maybe 555 or I may just stick with my 525 for now until it blows up?

Oh yea I'm also going to do a rebuild on the motor. Dunno if I'll keep it stock internally or get like T2 rods and some upgraded pistons I don't really know yet. Haven't decided. But at worst it will get a stock rebuild.

I've decided to go all out on my motor and get the TU performance head and forged pistons/TII rods. So I'll get a 3 inch and mate it to the 2.5'' swingvalve and hope it works.

All the factory 2.5" swingvalves have the large flange.

The 3 inch downpipe will bolt up to 2.5 inch swingvalve just fine.

i'm going stock 2.5 T2 (plumbing and all) on my k wagon but i'm going w/ a TU 3" swing valve along with a stainless 3" fwd-p exhaust to maximize performance. the 3" SV is supposedly good for a bunch more lb-ft of torque and the 3" exhaust will be good if i switch to a 2.5 T3 motor in the future.

And on my SL, but I'm going to 3" all the way. Too many connections with the 2.5". It has a slight leak too...
