I saw my friend driving his '83 Camaro down in my parent's town. I get behind him and give him some BOV. He gets the idea and turns down a large 4 way road. He's got a stock 305, twin 3" open glasspacks, MSD hot box, and some head work with a nice auto trans. I'm in 1st gear doing about 25mph and I give the three honk, probally about 1/4 length behind him when we nail it. I immediately lurch on him, bang down 2nd and pull some more, pull down 3rd and feel the aerodynamics of a van. It was a dead even race the whole time.

It was funny to me because my friend's girlfriend has a class with him and keeps him updated on my van, he's a typical V8 guy and felt he could pound the hell out of me. Kind of funny that he couldn't beat me. If you're wondering, yes his girlfriend was with him... oh and I just left the grocery store too. ;);)

dude beatin a 305 isnt anything special, they are boat anchors, I have owned 2. You could beat a 305 with a Ford Escort 5 spd.

'83 305 = 160hp stock if I'm remembering right, they're carb'd and crappy. The headwork should help a bit though.

eh, dunno, the difference between a baby sucking through a straw and hercules sucking through a straw isnt much. you can change whats on the end but they both still suck.

i think races like these are cool. if the guy thought it would be dead even wheres the fun in that? people who dont know they're about the get it are the most fun to beat. thats why racing my dynasty was such a barrel of laughs. :)

Ok so the 305's are slow and crappy, it was just funny that the guy was so confident he was in the 12's.

lol No he was probally a good low 15 second ride. I'm sure my van isn't that slow to tie with a mid 16 second car. Going racing Sunday hopefully, so we'll see how she runs if I can hook. ;)
