Ken, with your projects as of late, have you considered when people come by after the event to charge a "fee" of making them at least turn 10 wrenches so you can get more done on one of the many rides around the Adler Grounds? We ought to have a "Summer Fling" to meet at your place and gang tackle one of the Chargers and/or the Daytona! It would be the least we could do for the hospitality!!! Count me in! I owe you, brother! (Make sure it's scheduled when it's still at least 90 degrees at night and insane humid! It'd only be fair!)

LOL... Lancer going off to paint by the end of the month. GLHS #2 engine wire harness swap up and running by the end of April. Just bought the crank for my car. Next those sweet TU H beam rods then it's off to the engine builder.

After the lancer is painted, the Daytona is next!!!

I'll be there. I've been wanting to make it back down there to race since i missed turbopalooza. I just have to assemble an engine and swap engine and tranny, wiring harness, and fuel pump and then tune it all to get a tm there. If the sc isn't running i'll bring the neon and strip it until it goes fast enough for me.

GLHSKEN
03-18-2007, 09:29 AM

cordless sawzall maybe...I heard from the neon circle that the rear bumper holds air so that might be a new part to take off. however hood off seemed to be the best removal last time. 15.91 last time. Now i have a tach and I can actually launch.

I'm going to Tri-State on the 21st for the begining of my Bachelor party so I'm not opposed to bumping it from the 14th to the 21st due to weather.

I'll be running my Mustang and I'll get to see my buddy run his hemi Ram that he just got last year. My other buddy just picked up a 2001 Trans-am ram air 6 speed with only 8000 miles that he'll probably be running.

What's the difference of spending the money on the 14th vs. the 21st? I don't think inflation or gas prices will go that high in one week? The track will be the same price.

This is honestly my horoscope for the day:

This is NOT a good day to visit the racetrack, or Las Vegas, or even the corner store that sells Lotto tickets. Stay away from Wall Street as well, dear Sagittarius. Speculation of any kind right now could be risky at best and disastrous at worst. Romance is also likely to be blocked today, as you're probably feeling a little lethargic and not in a very sociable mood. Find a good book. That's the most productive thing you could do today!

Good thing we are rescheduling!!!

lancer402

quick question: are the guys at the track going to complain if I dont have open style lug nuts on my car w/ slicks??

It's Tri-State....they don't even know if you have windows in the car or not. You could roll down the track with 3 wheels if you wanted.

And I've always ran closed end lug nuts up until a few years ago when I got the Bogart's and had to go with longer studs. Never had a problem.

I have about 3 hours of video that I will be taking. With the Boosted GM's and boosted mopars and it would be kewl if I could convice some of the Cobra cars to come down for a spin. They have a meeting up North with 60's Shelby Cobras to Mustang Cobras @5:00-7:30. I will not be attending that though because of priorities. Ok Spring Fling!

ok, last question (yeah right!): are we on the same time in Indianar?????

You moron! Yes, we are now always on the same time as the Ohiya peoples, even you in Terrible Haute! (As long as you stay an hour ahead of those people across the border in Paris, IL!!!)

Clay
04-17-2007, 12:43 PM

fleckster
04-17-2007, 12:46 PM
There are two time zones in KEN-tucky but the state is split like Indiana is around Evansville. The far Western side of Kentucky is on Central but around Cincy, they are on Eastern and always have been. They didn't have a recent policy change like we had.

Clay
04-17-2007, 12:48 PM
ok, so for once we are good, and KEN-tucky and gang are screwed!? ;)

BIGBRUDDA
04-17-2007, 12:54 PM

And as usual you Hooozers are befuddeled:amen:

fleckster
04-17-2007, 02:04 PM
The Hoosiers are not befuddled. Just Clay! lol

Clay, the guys from KEN-tucky don't have issues with it as they have been in the same time zone forever. Ken, Reeves, et al. on that side of the river have always been on the same time as Cincy all year around. They have changed back and forth from EST to EDT since the beginning of it. WE were the ones that didn't think it was worth anything until last year and didn't change our clocks, moving from EST to CDT. (or staying on the same time)

Clay, I thought you were an Engineer? You should be able to figure this stuff out! lol

Tim, there are two time zones in Indiana too! (a portion around Chicago in the Northwest and a portion around Evansville in the Southwest, are on CDT.)

Clay
04-17-2007, 02:14 PM
oh noes, Ive gots it all figured out!

Being on the same time, we Hoosiers, for once, are in good shape.

but since the KEN-tickians are still all screwed up with their time zones.... they are thusly screwed as well...... but yet, they will still be there because we were screwed up once as well, and we still made it!! ;)

hey clay what was your fastest time yesterday and what was your setup?

Clay
04-22-2007, 10:52 AM
Ok setup is:

stock 86 block/head
2 piece intake
+20s
3-bar map
stock TII turbo/manifold
open 2.5" down pipe
g-body IC/rad
520/555 hybrid
poly front mount, and bobble strut

I started out the day with 24.5" slicks, a stock blueberry cal set for 20 PSI. Unfortunately this didnt work out to well for drag racing. :( The stock blueberry cal has a 3500 RPM rev limiter/launch controller built it which didnt allow me to get any kind of good burnout to heat up the slicks, and didnt let me launch worth a darn.

SO after messing with that a bit, R/T loaned me his 22" MT slicks. I still had the same issue of not being able to do a burnout, or launch worth a darn, but @ ~14 psi I managed a 14.5@97mph. 60 fts was 2.2ish. Not bad, it really shows how bad the launch is, but the top end is pretty decent. ;) Funny thing is Ive had better 60 foot times with street tires (2.1 was my best). So the big slicks and the stock blueberry really isnt working out for me with slicks. It would be great for a street tire car though.

Next I pulled the blueberry cal out and went back to a stock 87 CSX LM and 2 bar MAP. This allowed me to actually do a burnout, and actually launch the car. Let me tell you that was *F*U*N*! Never knew a FWD car could go like that from a dig! I still smile when I think about it! 60' was 1.98, so not bad, and much better than with the other slicks or street tires. I only made two passes with this setup, and my best time was a 14.5@92, but this was made at ~11 psi. I tried another pass, but I adjusted the grainger to much, and hit overboost just past the 60' mark.

overall Im pretty happy. a big thanks to Tracy for the use of his slicks, and for being my crew cheif for the day! :) He was a big help for me and I needed it!!

I wish I could have gone faster, sure, but I needed to learn how to do it before I get there! ;) So some new slicks, and a modified blueberry are definatley in my future!
