I'm hoping to to a t2 swap in to my laser next week using parts from my totalled shelby z, but the engine on that car has a broken dipstick tube. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement, OR how long the tube is supposed to be?

I was thinking I could just get some steel tube, cut it to length and flare the one end so it won't pop out of the block. Good idea? Bad Idea?

Its a press fit into the block so if you can get the right size, you can make your own. You can buy new ones or search the wreckers. Unsure of length.

I think you can get the tube with dipstick from the dealer for about $15. Even I will spring for that.

Oh yeah? I didn't think something like that would be available at the dealer. I guess I'll check that out.

If the dealer asks what color the dipstick handle is, black is 2.2, gray is 2.5.
