I am trying to decide in what exhaust I want to put on my car. I have a 88 Shelby Z and I don't know what muffler I want to get, what size piping I want to run, and if i want it out the back or side exit. Please post any videos and set ups you have of your car.

heres my 92 spirit V6 5 speed when I had a side exit. It used a glasspack and 2.25" pipes with the stock cat. just a quick rev to 2500-3000. I got pulled over because it was too loud so I changed it to rear exit with a turbo muffler.

2.25, glass pack, side exit.. but tbi..

so now you've got v6 and tbi sound clips, you must be closer to your goal right? :P

you want a 3" open DP

but if you care about it being legal.........

pipe - 2.5" will be sufficent if you dont plan on going over 250hp

exit location? thats really up to you.
side exit - draws more attention, better flowing, can build it yourself
rear exit - looks stock, easier to incorperate a muffler, can just get a kit form a vendor

muffler - strait thru, I was looking at amagnaflow from TU (http://turbosunleashed.com/shop/index.php?cPath=53_138) or Ultraflow (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=WLK%2D24215&N=700+0&autoview=sku)

cat - none, or high flow

I would also add a cutout right after the downpipe

3", cat, and magnaflow is the best combination for balancing power and noise. You could go no cat for optimum power, but the noise/drone sucks.

If the drone is a problem, those of us without Emissions Testing go without the cat but put a cheap straight through muffler acting as a resonator in its place such as the Dynomax UltroFlo (~ $30) then use a good muffler in the stock location. It doesn't really hurt the performance but it does do a good job of quieting it down (removing the drone) but still sounds mean.

I don't have E-Check where I live so I can go catless. I don't really get bothered by drone at all as long as it sounds good. I have never really heard one of these cars with aftermarket exhaust that is why I want to hear a clip.

I don't have a clip at work but I have a clip of my old Shelby Z with 2.5" exhaust, no cat, and just a Dynomax Race Magnum Bullet at home I could post up when I get home (after 2am).

Here is a vid of my Daytona with an open 3" downpipe. I will get another now that the exhaust is complete.

I wish I could hear my Daytona drive too! The father and son I sold it to have it setting behind their house with a blown engine and it's just rotting away now!

Here's mine, 3" full exhaust, Dynomax Ultraflow muffler, no cat, crushed bend, ported exhaust manifold, big turbo. There's no drone that I notice, even doing 80mph on the highway in an auto. ;)

BTW we should meet up sometime. I'm about 35 minutes from you in Kent.
