Well yesterday im on my way home from some yard hopping and im cruising 70east and I pull up to a GT give it alittle gas and look over he then punches it and flies by Nice sounding exhaust too , We slow down next to each other and I look at him and nod my head I hear him floor it and so do I, we are neck and neck to about 110 then he gets a fender on me and we shut it down.

Im going to assume he had at least an exhaust and intake. Oh yea I was in my new GTP all stock with high miles and exhaust leak

This was a while back I was coming home from dropping my kids off at my parents house and picking up my floor jack in the Horizon I had to do a U turn and realize I was pulling out in front of about an 02 Mustang GT with Texas plates. Probably Navy guys being that they were coming from the direction of the Navy base. I get in it so he doesn't have to slow down or go around me. Seemed to get his attention. We "catch" the next X-Mas tree together. I see he has 2 guys with him and they start talking loudly about how his car is a GT this and V-8 that. Then while waiting for the lights to come down, my turbo starts to smoke and the wind is blowing it towards their car. Normally it is emabrrasing but this time it plays to my advantage. The light goes green I ease out and I hear his tires break free. I floor it and immediately start spinning and pulling. Second gear more spinning and I can now see him in my rearview. I go into third and ease off the gas. The next light his partner is like what the hell is in that thing? I tell him the truth, a 4 cylinder. He says bullshit I said pull over and have a look. They don't, but the driver says he used to have a Horizon. I said "yeah you can't beat em and by the way you know they make nitrous for those cars right"? Here's the car:
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j246/ACRTURTLE/100_0416.jpg

Then Friday morning coming to work in my SRT i passed a brand new GT convertible, still had the temp tag on it. As luck would have it we catch a traffic light. The light turns green and I ease away. About the time I go into 2nd, I see the front end of his car rise up more than usual and he pulls along side me. I floored it, it spun a little, I grabbed 3rd and pulled a fender back on him and he let off.

If he wanted to do it right IMHO, he should have gone with an XR4TI or an SVO Mustang. Those cars are flying, and RWD.

This story is about my Shelby Charger when it had the stock parts/junkyard turbo 2 setup. It was in the fall of 2001. I was heading toward Huntsville, AL one Friday evening in the Shelby Charger. I was on a two lane highway with a Volvo in front of me and a New Edge (1999-2001) body style Mustang behind me. The highway opened up to a 4 lane. For some reason, the Volvo didn't get in the slow lane like I expected. The Mustang whipped around me and the Volvo, revving his engine as he passed me. I thought to myself, "oh, no he didn't just do that". I then proceed to pass the Volvo and catch up to the Mustang. I got on the brakes in order to slow down enough to pace the Mustang which was going about 30 mph. I was still on the brakes as I got up next to him when all of a sudden, he jumps on it. I had to downshift and then matted the gas. He got about a 2-3 car jump on me before I had a chance. Before I knew it myself, I put 6 car lengths on him. I pulled up to the next traffic signal and he pulled up just about a car length behind me. I actually backed up so I could look over at him. He just looked the other direction, but I could still tell he was a bit perturbed. When the light turned green, he just sat there. I guess he was embarrassed that my car, which looked fresh out of the junkyard, put a whoopin' on his new car.

Last year I saw a guy working on a mustang gt at the track and I went over to talk to him. My brother had an 88 gt and I have to admit that I enjoyed driving it. I asked him if it was an 88 and he said no it is a 90. I also saw that he had a supercharger on it as well as a ton of other mods. We talked about his car for a while and then he says,"I just enjoy coming out here to beat up on the imports." I said, "I enjoy that too, except when I do it they can't complain that I have four more cylinders than they have." He stopped working on his car and looked up and asked what car was mine. I pointed it out and he just said OK and went back to work. He basically just blew me off and stopped talking. The next time I pull up to the staging lanes he is right next to me. It was not even close. I beat him by several lengths. When we got back to the pits he comes running over and says, "Man that is a serious car. I did not think much of it when I saw it but man that thing moves." The next time I was at the track I saw him again and he was telling his friends about how fast my car was.

I drove my Daytona to the track one night. Was a bunch of buddies there. Made a couple of passes, and my car was running pretty good. I was on Drag Radials, and running 2 staged boost to 26psi on 93 octane. A friend of mine which is a Mustang freak, struck up a race with me. His car was trailered, had slicks, and a modified 5.0. We both staged, and without either one of us knowing it, the tree was changed to a Pro tree. This caught us both by surprise and we froze. My buddy finally left with me following, and he jumped me 2 or 3 cars right off the start and a total of around 4 before I got going good because of him leaving first. I caught and passed him just after half track (1/8th mile), and beat him by a car length or so. He said he could hear me coming. When the second stage of boost would come in 2nd gear the Daytona was out accelerating a mid 7 second car!! I was running 8.20's @ 90+mph and launching easy with 2.0's for 60's!!! A while after that I carried him for a ride in the Daytona. He said he would never ride in it again!!! :thumb:

About 3 years ago, I had just put my first TD together, stock T1 no IC.....mitsu turbo, automatic. Rolled the car after 6 weeks @130 mph, and quickly found a donor car with a 520. After raising hell around town for a couple weeks, a couple kids wanted to run 'em outside of town....3 wide uphill, and I was in the oncoming traffic lane (really dumb, I know) Turbo AWD Talon in the center lane and a 97 Mustang GT in the far right. The hands went down, and the Talon smoked us both, but since the guy throwing his hands for my lane dropped late, we ran again. To make it fair we each had a passenger btw lol. We also measured roughly a 1/4 mile before we started. Second round the Talon shot outta the hole with 2-3 on me....until I banged second. The Stang and I were pretty evenly matched as we both blew by the Talon by 3rd gear (for me) I took the Talon by a 1 and the stang by a half :D Both of em were so pissed they raced me back to town and started making excuses..... I just laughed :)

Well, I got my as-s handed to me on a white/silver platter by a very mildly modified CSX-T while driving my Mustang, an '88 GT. I'll let Supercrackerbox color his side of the story as he sees fit.
Here's my take from an old thread on TD.com: "We've been talking a little bit of smack, mostly me giving him crap that his CSXT should beat my 5.0 and how embarrasing it would be if I beat him. We finally got something resembling a run tonight. On a roll from 30-35 he pulled and pulled and pulled away from me. As he should! He had 3-4 carlengths when we shut down around 80. We still need to go to from a dig; that will happen soon enough. Until then, nice race! "

Yea, I was one of them (witnesses). It was pretty funny and of course he had all the excuses in the world about how this and that wasnt working right......but you just smile and nod. I think I had my 88 Shadow that day running mid-high 13's.....I dont remember if I ever got to race him though.

Last fall, the day after I had my Lancer Shelby running at 25psi I ran into a 5.0 fox body that seemed to wanna play. No big race here, just some very short little runs... beat him 3-4 times even when missing a gear (oops). He seemed pretty impressed, on top of that, he was of course telling me his car is misfiring on a cylinder and that he woulda "smoked" me if it was running right. Whether it was misfiring on one hole or not, he was done in good. :D

There is nothing more satisfying than seeing the look on a 5.0 drivers face as you pass them going down the track... in an N/A Neon.

I'm sure he wanted to kill himself after that!

Awesome stories guys...I've got one that not only involves a Mustang, but a Thunderbird LX and a Ford Lightning!

It all started a couple years ago as I was leaving work. My drive home takes around 45 minutes...a few minutes of back roads, 30 minutes of driving on the Interstate, followed by about 10 minutes of flat country backroads until I get to my small hometown.

Another thing...I'm in my 90 Shadow ES. Full stock weight, stock suspension, stock faded paint, with a 2.2 TII/auto with a S70, and a cummins intercooler with boost set to 18lbs.

I'm just merging onto the Interstate when I see those three Ford products pass by in single file. Instantly I perked up, but was flustered by the fact that the whole area (I'm talking like 15-20 miles) of the Interstate was under construction, and I wasn't gonna mess around with all the traffic. Plus they were going well over the posted 55mph limit, so I just let them disappear into the distance. I'm not risking anything in a work zone.

Fast forward 25 minutes. I'm coming up to the exit that I take, and up ahead a half mile I see all three of them getting off too! So I hammer down to try to catch up with them. By the time I get to the top of the ramp, all three of them have turned left and have headed back over the highway.

Let me stop right there and give you a little heads up. The exit I take is in the middle of no where. When you get off the highway, there is literally nothing other than 2 lane blacktop for miles. Nothing but country "blocks" which are a mile square. Blocks of square, flat corn and bean fields.

So now they are ahead of me by 1000' or so, which isn't really a big deal, because there is a 4-way stop just ahead of them. I'm scanning left and right, looking for traffic. Fortunately there isn't any, and I lay out my game plan (which basically is, no matter which way they go, I'm gonna try to take them all at once).

As I'm looking ahead, I watch as they all make a right turn. I'm gaining fast on them now, as they have no idea what's going to happen. I take the right turn at about 20 mph, blowing the stop sign. The car is leaning pretty good, and the tires are making some noise as I'm cornering hard. I'm 100 feet behind the Thunderbird LX when I pull into the opposite lane to make my move.

Now this is like something I couldn't have imagined. I'm in the opposite lane of these other 3 guys. It's pretty sight...a maroon early 90's Thunderbird LX, following closely behind a yellow late 90's Mustang GT with a big yellow horse in the back window, who is following a late-model white Lightning with a big white Ford emblem in the back window.

So I've swung out and I floor it from somewhere around 45mph. They must have all seen what was up, because their column of vehicles started to speed up and pull apart as they all took off.

I flew by the LX like that sucker was standing still...BOOM! The sound of my 3" open exhaust bounced off the side of his car when I flew by (it was the middle of summer and my windows were down).

Now I'm reeling in the Mustang pretty fast, all the while noticing that the Lightning is now a good distance ahead of him. I've been well above the 100 mph mark for the past 5-15 seconds (?) and judging by where I am on the block, we've all been racing for 3/4 of a mile.

So I pass the Mustang, well into triple digits and I start reeling in the Lightning. By now, I pass the first country block (1 mile) and I've still got the pedal floored. 4 car lengths....3 car lengths...two car lengths...and I start coming up on the Lightning.

As I said, I've got my windows down. Air is blasting in the Shadow, whipping any loose papers or receipts around in a whirlwind before they are torn out of the car. I notice that I'm somewhere in the 120 mph area of the speedometer, and as I'm getting closer, the whine of the Supercharged Ford slowly starts increasing in pitch. I pull along the side of the Lightning, and I'm watching him the whole time out the passenger window. Other than the hellatious wind and the screaming motors, it almost appears that I could be looking over at him as we pull up next to each other at a light. I've got a big "Hell Yeah" look on my grinning mug as we make eye contact. By the look on his face, I might as well have been pointing a gun at him, his eyes were like saucers. And it was almost hard to tell who was driving, as his male passenger was leaning almost as far over as he was. I SLOWLY creeped by him, all the while both of our engines were straining like they were at the breaking point. When I finally was a length ahead, I pulled back into the correct lane.

By now, I literally had my car floored for a mile and a half. The Ford guys fell way back after I got in front, and unfortunately, I never saw them again.

When I got home I did notice that I pushed a bunch of coolant out between my headgasket and the block. But other than that, no problems!

Been keeping my eyes out, hoping to talk to one of them at a gas station, but no luck. I'd love to hear what they said to each other when they got to their destination!

I only have one 1999+ PI Gt Mustang kill in my 1991 spirit Rt

but I do have
3 vette kills 1985 1994 1960's 427
1 93+ RX-7 until I had to make a turn
80'S Monte Carlo- The Guy got pulled over
Hung with a SLP 1997 Lt4 6 speed Camaro for a bit and made the driver mad
and a few more to boot
Early 90's 300zx with my brother driving
Late 80's 300zx
and the rest were just so so cars but good stories
example Honda Civic with no hood- My favorite Ion driver and passanger laughing at my car and so on!

It funny what a open exhaust and a grainger valve will do to a Spirit Rt
I ran 96mph traps stock. I never ran it with the exhaust and more boost but I think it would of trapped at least 100mph

I miss those days because I loved the look on peoples faces or reactions of people with you. It's not the same in my Mustang but non the less the car is a lot of fun. I need to get my Spirit running again!

Btw I do own a Mustang and I'm hoping that one day once my brother gets his 1990 Dodge Spirit ES running the way it should we can get it on Video but if he beats me I'll have to have him post his story on here, lol!

Nothing is better than teaching Turbo Dodge 101 on someone who needs to be humbled, lol!

There are ----y driver on all races and creeds. Most people just don't know numbers and figures. Don't forget that applies to all of us. Just know there are some Honda owners who have 10, and 11 second streetable cars. There are streetable Mustangs that run into the 8's and one I know of that runs 7's. I got to cruise down the highway next to 9 second mustang that runs 150's in the quarter but he's kewl and the funny thing he's planning to put a Ls1 into a Mustang. Though the majority of Mustang and Honda drivers can't hang with a well modded TD::thumb:!

Well, I don't have a mustang beat down to talk about, however...

I was walking out of Autozone yesterday and came up on my car. A mustang had parked next to me and the driver was bragging to a couple guys about the hood scoop and hood pins he had just installed. Amused I stopped and listened a bit. When I had the opportunity to get a word in I asked....'how much horse power does it all add????' with an inquisitive look on my face. He looked at me and frowned. I just walked away, got in my car and layed rubber in the parking lot.

Very true i 100% agree, but me i never brag about my lebaron cause i don't care. yes, i like racing cause i like the look on people faces and i love adrenaline rush but i don't care what people think i don't wanna make crowds look pleased as long as i am. to be honest IM the only one in my city with a mint condition modd TD Lebaron coupe and i did that on purpose cause i didnt want to be like everybody else because i hate Honda and ricer motors and IM a kid myself 18 as a matter of fact. but the punks in my city drive saw zall springs that make their Honda look like their on a
moon bounce and they think its cool, mustang owners coming into my job with loud music and an exhaust that everybody has to hear and when he leaves and floors it the car makes so much noise and the car hasn't gone anywhere and i just laugh. people like that i love embarrassing especially rich white boys in their BMW's and merz-benz LOVE IT!!
but i agree high number cars are my friends cause they dont have to prove anything and high number cars are more mature classy and that me But TD STYLE

I've got a couple Mustang kill stories from last summer. Both within a couple weeks of eachother.
It starts out with a quick background on a few runs I had against some local boys in a Super Coupe. Very well modded (port and polish, fresh short block fully forged, overdrive pulley, dual exhaust, intake etc...) We ran into eachother one night on quiet roads and had about 6-7 pulls against eachother. I won every one of them but there was full respect going back and forth. We pulled over, talked cars for a few hours and all ended up being friends afterwords.

Fast forward a couple weeks. I'm merging right onto the highway from a light. As I pull in, there's an 18 wheeler crawling along ahead of me. I hit my signal and speed up to move to the left lane and I hear a car kick down and throttle it. I take a closer look at the headlights and recognise Mustang. I get into it too, but he had enough of a roll on me that he crawled past and I braked before getting too close to the truck.
I think to myself, "hmm, someone wants to play, eh?" and tuck in behind him.

After we pass the truck he moves to the right and slows down. I think to myself "aww, he's chicken?" But then I hear honk-honk...and I know whats up. On the 3rd honk we both nail it. Both of us in 4th gear. I instantly pull a half length on him and crawl up to about 2 lengths before we let out. Twice more he tries me in 4th gear with an identical result.

Then he slows down further and wants to try 3rd gear. I'm happy to oblige as he does the 3 honks and I INSTANTLY jump out 2 lengths on him. By 4th gear I'm up by about 4 and stretch out 2 more before letting out. We pull off at a truck stop and he's dumbfounded by my little Charger. We talk a few minutes and then proceed on our way back to town as both of us had passed our stops.

A few nights later I'm out for wings with the Supercoupe boys and I mention the Mustang. Turns out they know the guy and it's and `03 GT and has the generic bolt ons of exhaust, intake and rims. He told them he was buying a 200 shot and when asked why, he told them he got beaten by a Corvette 2 nights ago. They asked if he'd run that little red Charger yet, and he just looked sheepish. hahahaha

On to about a week later. I'd bumped my boost from 12 to 16 and I'm out rollin around with the Supercoupers again. We picked on a Viper earlier that day (which I didn't do too badly against) and I was about even with a C5 (with a 400 lb driver and HUGE system). We're rolling along and spot a brand new `06 Mustang GT. I tell Brett in the `coupe "this one's yours" as he's not a fan of the Mustangs. He rolls past him letting him hear the SC whine and I follow with the BOV. We do a quick turnaround at our beach and I pull over to let Brett and the Mustang pass. Brett cracks a nice fishtail out and the Mustang bites! We pull up to the main road again. Mustang hits right turn signal. Brett hits left (for the highway). Steve points out the sunroof of the `coupe "Left" as well. Mustang hits left turn signal and I smile. haha

We roll out to the highway and Brett slows down. Motioning for me to come up alongside. He calls to me "you take this guy. I dunno if I can beat him. I'll run him after I see how you do!" So proceed to roll up alongside. The Mustang guy looks a bit confused but has a smirk on his face as he picks his gear (seems like 4th as I'm high in 3rd). He suddenly punches it and after a second, so do I. He gets 1/2 length right away but as soon as I spooled I flew past him. Shifted to 4th and put 3 lengths on him before he noticably let off. When I let off he did the fly-by and kept on going. He never slowed up for a sideways look at me or Brett, but we had a good laugh about it afterwords.

Sadly Brett lost his Coupe this winter on some icy roads, but Steve is looking for a turbo Shadow so he can join in my fun. Hopefully next summer will be as much fun as the last...

Hahaha I agree! I actually wouldn't mind playing with a tropical storm one day to be honest. I'm tired of 5.0's and 350's. Gimme a big block or forced induction to play with! It's always fun racing, but it's way more fun when you don't "know" you're gonna win before you start...

Doing some testing in my car one day last summer,i was trying to find a skip(miss) under 25psi boost.Ran into a guy that had a SVT in that Green/flop/blue color. The car sounded real good as we cruised side to side at 65mph.I looked over at him and pointed the finger forward, and he laughed and kept going.I did it again, and he smiled and hammered it.I was caught a bit slow and lost a 1/2 car length.I took him all the way to 135mph including a 50mph curve(can you say both cars in a 4 wheel drift door to door?) WOW!
Pretty even i could say.We went on our way after...

I had f-ed up my tune and ran two 8.8s in the 1/8 back to back so the kid thought I was slow as balls. I fixed the tune, lined up with his dad and walked him. When we went to get the sheets the kid was talking ---- to me and his dad came in and told him to stfu and said "that's a hell of a car you got there son!". Last Wednesday night I was going over to a local members house to show the 'S to his buddy, another member here. On the way over I had my first kill post paint job. I was first in line at a light when a 'stang pulls up behind me. Light goes green and I take off at a normal rate, but when I get 1/2 through 2nd gear I give it a little more (about 5 psi) and jump out quickly. I look up the street to the next light which is green but notice a car stopped on the cross street waiting to turn, so I know the light is gonna change before I get to it. I get over to the next lane and leave the first lane open to the 'stang to see if he'll take the bait. We come to the light, which indeed changed and I look over at him. He's typical So. Cal. cool guy wearing all his favorite teams stuff and hat turn a little sideways driving his 'stang. He just glances at me..prolly thinking he's about to show me what I real car can do ;) . I notice the 40th fender badge which made it an '04, and he clearly had done some exhaust work as it sounded pretty healthy at idle. When the light turned green we both get on it. He got about a fender on me before I hooked up enough to stay with him. I grab 2nd gear and I put half a length on him, 3rd gear and I'm easily pulling away. I back off, tap the brake twice and wait for him to go by. As he does he nods and gives a thumbs up. Then as he's past me I finally see the badge I wanted to on the back, the GT badge.

Well, I'd been talking ---- with this kid back and forth since the second semester started of my junior year in college. He had (and still has) a modified '89 GT. This kid talked a lot of trash about how the SRT is "american rice" and how turbos are for ricers. :blah:

Here's his modifications:

SVO engine.
B303 Cam.
Cobra Intake.
Alum. Edelbrock Heads.
C&L MM Mass Air & Throttle Body.
K&N Intake.
Complete High Flow Exhaust, headers to tailpipe.
Radiater (High Capacity.)
New Water Pump and rebuilt Alternator.
New Brakes.
Alum. Driveshaft.
Cobra clutch & pressure plate.
3.73 gears.
New carpet, paint, yada yada.

I was kind of scared, you know? I didn't want to lose! I HATE LOSING! Not only that but he was claiming 400+hp. (I hate when people talk numbers before they even have their car on the dyno .. it just leads to DISAPPOINTMENT!!) Anyway!

I was in the Library writing my final assesment paper for my Corporate Finance class and him and his buddy were around so we all went out there and looked at it. Sure, it sounded pretty mean but it wasn't as nice as I thought it might be. So then he gave us a ride in it and I have to admit that I was expecting to be thrown in my seat more .. but no. Maybe I had high expectations. (I mean, he did talk it up for the few weeks leading up to this moment... right?)

So when we got back, I asked him if he wanted to race the SRT and he LAUGHED at me. He was like, "There's no way that american rice car would keep up with my 5oh." (I think there was a "piece of ---- Dodge" thrown in there somewhere too. I can't hate on Fords ... we've got Lightnings too!!!)

Oh, yeah, okay.

So we get out onto the highway and the kid WILL NOT slow down at all. I don't want to race from 80mph! So I finally get him to slow down a little bit. I'm still in 4th gear though. So we go from 4th gear and we're DEAD even! I shut it down at about 110mph because I'm scared (Wow .. what a girl.) So after a few more times in 4th gear I finally got slow enough to drop it down to 3rd. I pulled HARD on him when I got to drop it down into 3rd!

SEEEEEE YAHHH MUSTANG BOY.

I wish that I could say that I smoked him .. but I definitely didn't. He was talking all this trash about how I should take my turbo off and race him with engine only, like his car. Since .. you know .. turbos are for rice cars ... Yeah, I'll race him without my turbo is he removes 4 of his cylinders....

Even after I pulled hard on him in 3rd, he still won't admit that my car is at least AS FAST as his 5.0.

The funniest part is that I was only boosting to about 12psi because of my computer and the whole part-throttle boost issues since I'm still in Stage 0!! AND I DIDN'T EVEN OPEN THE DUMP FOR HIM!!!

I don't want to make it seem like I smoked him .. because I'd hardly call it that. When I got to drop it down to 3rd, I walked away until he was a few feet from my back bumper. By that time, we were both doing about 110mph. Too fast. I can't afford that ticket.

GLHS592
04-07-2007, 09:24 AM
I forgot about one from 1999 or 2000. I was in my GLHS (stock except MP logic module) and pulled up next to a Fox body GT at a traffic light. It looked and sounded fast. It had a cowl hood, 3" Flowmaster exhaust, and big/skinny Welds with drag radials in back. He didn't even think anything about the GLHS until I hammered down on it pulling away from the light. I knew it was on when I looked in the rear view mirror and saw his nose lift and his rear end get a little squirrelly. He pulls up beside me giving me a "how dare you" look. We both hit it about the same time around 30 mph and he instantly pulls about a fender on me. At about 80 mph, I have a half fender on him and it stays that way until about 100 mph. I lose my nerve and let out of it as a pickup pulls out onto the road up ahead. He passes the truck and keeps going through the next light.

I had to stop at the light. This guy in an 80's Subaru wagon with his wife and two kids pulls up next to me and asks if I beat that Mustang. I told him just barely. The guy laughed and told me that he had one of those Omni turbos that he used to beat up on the Mustang guys with all the time. He gave me a thumbs up and told me that he'd never seen a real GLHS before.

The moral of the story: If you are going to look and sound fast, be fast.

This was in the summer in my van stock mitsu at 20psi huge fmic any way tailing this convertible fox body on the way home had saleen badges all over but I don't think it was one I finally line up beside him at a light and give him the look he does the same to me cause I had to be on it just to keep up any way I'm sure he thought I show him well I gauged the light wrong so had a little lag off the line he got about half a car in front then I boosted to 20 and pulled him like 2 cars instantly we only got going to like 60mph and the light turned red infront of us and my turn was coming up well when we stopped he looked over and said "what you got in that thing a V8" I smiled and said no just a 4cyl turbo he was in such shock that when the light turned green he was still looking at my van with a dumbfounded look and held up the cars behind him for like 3 seconds it was pretty funny and probably one of my favorite kills.

But yah I do like mustangs for the fun factor at the track we got one an older foxbody but open headers and drag slicks and a five speed fun car to go bag on

Well, this was two years ago but still a great story.

I was taking my car out for a "test for pep" ride. I just so happen to approach a Ford dealership. As I got closer I noticed a new Mustang GT was leaving the lot. Didn't think much of it until I saw that it was heading for the freeway. I thought to myself, cool, maybe it is out to play.
Now I'm behind the Mustang at the light and I noticed on the passenger side window there was a window sticker and I saw the salesman in the pass. seat. Haha, this dude is out for test drive.
The light turns green and he proceeds to take the turn to the freeway, I follow, of course. I see he is getting on it a little bit and I pace him, not wanting to be too far back. Finally, we are on the freeway and I see he is getting on the Mustang hard (its on now!). I just floored my car and proceeded to give that Mustang a beating that he or the saleman will never forget. The look on their face was priceless.

I wonder if he bought the car

The other day I had a good run with a Stang against my Neon.

It was on the way home from work and was just getting dark out, I was sitting at the stoplight and he rolled up next to me. A mid 90's GT convertible, based on the exhaust sound I figured it was a stock 4.6 liter car, probably automatic being that it was a decked out convertible with leather. A good challeng for my mostly stock 95 Sohc neon. I knew I had and advantage in the weight dept, and I've got platinum plugs and synthetic oil, so I should be up to somewhere around 150 hp instead of the stock 132.

Ahead of us was an open stretch of 4 lane divided highway, good visibility and no sign of any law enforcement for miles, a perfect opportunity. The light seemed to stay red for seemingly forever. I slipped my car into 1st gear and watched for the yellow to switch over the crossing lanes. Ready to launch I neary dumped the clutch when the left turn arrow came up, fortunately I caught myself and prepared for the green.

The light changed and I reacted almost instantly. My overeagerness resulted a little more wheelspin than I should have had. Fortunately I wasn't the only one with traction issues. I caught a glimpse of spinning wheels as I pulled away from my competitor. I crossed the intersection and he was no longer in my periferal vision. I glanced into the rearview as I grabbed 3rd gear and saw the Mustang already probably 5 cars back. And much to my suprise I kept pulling on him. Suddenly I noticed that the SUV behind me, and the tractor trailer behind him had followed my lead and left the poor Mustang looking like it was standing still. I basked in my victory as I shifted into 4th an proceeded cautiously down the highway at about 45mph. After all the roads were snow covered and I didn't want to risk an accident...lol...

I had just gotten out of the bank and i was sitting in my baron(89 vert, auto 12psi,2.5" magnaflow muffler)not much. But anyways this dumb@ss in a late 90's stang comes flying through the parking lot with a loud exhaust. I forgot to mention I was with my buddy who drives a GN and refuses to belive my car is fast lol. So i follow this guy onto the street (with my buddy in his GN behind me) and he is weaving in and out of traffic. As luck has it we end up at the next set of lights side my side.I put it into first and waited. The guy never even looked at me lol. When the light went green we both took off slow but his bumper was about halfway down my fender. All of a sudden i hear him punch it and me still sitting in first at about 3000 rpm punch it to.I intantly pulled on him shifted to second and kept pulling i let off and right as i did he slowly passed me staring at my car.He was so busy staring he almost rearended the guy infront of him. After that my buddy in his GN pulled up beside me and screamed "THat was f%cken awsome!" I think i made a beliver out of him lol.

Minding my own business at the light slammin my music when these guys pulled up looking at one another (sc chevy truck and the mustang) not paying attention to me like usually. Light turns green and we all nailed it and i pulled on both of them so hard i must of pulled about 3 or 4 lengths on them. I was so impressed with the cars performance i gave myself a hard on. LOL most women cant drive.

Girls are scary when they drive lol.I was messing around with this girl yesterday. We both took off from a light quick i then floored it and passed her.We were both going to turn right at an intersection.I went to the intersection signaled stopped and turned. She flew through the parking lot on that corner and came flying out the other side into on coming traffic fishtailed a bit then got back on the right side of the road lol.

Ya Im 16 and insurance for girls in my grade is much cheaper for the reason stated above. We tend too speed more. But I think thats complete bullshit. Women speed just as much as men and they tend too be attracted to medians and the rearend of other cars.

This happened about 4 or 5 years ago. I had recently installed a modified log intake, Intercooler, and FWD Performance 15psi cal on my 86 Daytona Turbo Z. I went into town to pick up some food and was headed back home. I passed this strip-mall parking lot and noticed a white late 80's Mustang GT sitting there parked next to the road. It had one of those huge hood cowls on it, but I really didn't think much about it until I turned right and noticed he was directly behind me. When I turned left to get on the service road he followed.

Now I was not driving in any sort of manner to get his attention and can only guess at this point that he was curious about my car. So when I get on the highway he is still following, but we couldn't run because there was too much traffic. I take my exit and he follows close behind, so I am now thinking he definitely wants to race. When we get on the service road I look in my rear view mirror and sure enough he punches it and starts to pull around on my left. So I punch it and hold him there at my left quarter panel. As I begin to pull on him, he then falls in behind me because the service road is a two way. I started really pulling on him at about 75mph and at about 85 or 90mph he flashes his head lights at me I guess to signal that he was giving up.

I turn right at my road and he follows me up to the stop sign. We both had the windows down and he asked me what I had in my car. I tell him it's a 2.2L Chrysler 4 cyl turbo and he says "Man, that thing is quick, I could hear the turbo" and asked me how much I had put into it. I told him about $1000 and he didn't repsond. I asked him how much he had in the Mustang and he said about $3000. I could hardly see his face because it was so dark outside, but I could tell his eyes were wide opened and his expression was of utter shock and dismay. What I didn't tell him is the reason he could hear my turbo was because there was a small leak in one of the intercooler hoses.

i got 2 stories
1st
i bought my 88 shadow 4 door es auto from a guy and it was already modded. it had ran a best time of 13.9@99. well i went ricer hunting just to get used to the car. after a few honda kills it was time for the main course. mustangs. well a friend of mine was ridding (he owns an 06sti) and he was shocked on how well the car ran. so we pull in this parking lot and there were 2 fox stangs. one with slicks and skinnies and the other looked stock. i pull up and ask "you guys wanna race?" they looked at me and said "race that?!?" i said "yep" they kinda looked at each other like WTF? well one responded "how much juice you running?" none. so they make excuses and ask me what is really done to it. well i stall it up to 3k and release the gas to let the bov do the talking. now they really didn't wanna race. so i was headed home for the night. well i come to a red light and guess who comes from the left going across the intersection.... the GREEN FOX WITH SLICKS AND SKINNIES!!! well i proceed to chase him down and get him to drop a gear. he looked and smiled and yelled "you ready?" i yelled "just start going when your ready" well we take off from a 20 roll and the shadow just spins tires right past him @ 40 then i kept pulling all the way to 80 or so. he pulled up with this "how in the hell did that ---- box rusted thing just beat me? "look he said he had a heads and cam swap with an aod and a stall. good kill for the shadow.:thumb:
2nd
my boss at work has an 05 gt and thinks he is billy bad ---. well i got a wild hair up my --- and ask him to race my bone stock 98 jeep grand cherokee 4x4 from a dead stop to 40mph or so. well he said "dude do you really think your gonna beat a 300hp mustang?!?!" maybe. well we go to lunch and i pull next to him at a stop light already in 4low :D i beat the ---- out of that gt to 40 and i topped out lol. well he pulls next to me and said "did you put nitrous on it or something?" i said "nope...4low is a ----- eh?" lol so the second race i tell him to go to 60 or so. i had it in full time 4 wheel which is like awd. i beat him again!!!! lol so everytime i see him at work i always say "so the jeeps up 2-0 right?" he gets all pissy and says "wheres your omni i hear about?" soon my friend soon..:thumb:

Last Friday on my way home from work in the Lebaron (intercooled mitsu @15psi, 2.5" side exit) a 96+ GT flew past me in the left lane only to have to slow for another car in his lane, so I decided to give chase. After the car got back into the right lane the mustang did the same and I pulled next to him. He looked over and nodded and we both hit it from about 80mph and I proceeded to put about 4 cars on him up to around 115. I then slowed and got in the right lane as he rolled up next to me and gave me the "oh well" shrug and waved.

I ran 12.79 at 109.3. Mustang owners coments what the hell is that. Even the might Shebly GT500 fell to the mighty 2.2.

I was cruising around in my Spirit looking for trouble when I see a ricer and a V6 Stang revving at each other at a red light. I pulled up behind the stang and paced him, then when the ricer gave up I switched into the next lane and pulled up beside him. We slow to about 10mph and he honks three times. I didn't launch in first so he got a jump on me, but I got beside him at the top of first, burn into second and pass him like a bastard, by the time I got into third I had put a good spankin on him. Ran into him at the gas station a week later and he asks me if I was the guy driving the Dodge Dynasty and I said yep it's a Spirit, and he said that he was pissed about getting smoked by my car! V6 mustangs are big piles and I shouldn't have felt so good about smoking it, but I sure put him in his place!

1st Mustang story:

GF and I were headed back to her house. I was in the right left turn lane(there were two left turn lanes) and I saw a Mustang that has a "Cobra" on the bumper and badges...a few small stickers(it was a real Cobra BTW...the N/A veriety that looks kind of like the SC ones). At this point I hadn't run my car at the track with the new set-up and had no clue what it really was capable of. The light goes green and we both go around the corner. Now I ahd no real intention of racing the guy...I figured he'd walk all over me, but I wanted to try and keep up. So when he went around the corner and we both took off and I kept up WAY better than I'd expected, I suppose it got his attention. At the next light he asked if I wanted to race...sure, why not! If I loose..no biggie to me, I expected that! Well..we decided to go from a small roll(since traffic was coming behind us). I brake boosted and waited for the honks...when I heard them I let it loose! I pulled about a 1/2 fender on him...he wanted to go again...ok: same deal...I missed 3rd I(DOH)...he got a 1/2 car on me. He was a pretty cool guy..asked if it was turbo...I told him yes...he gave me the thumbs up. He wanted togo again, but my stock clutch was complaining becuase of the brake boosting...so I declined and gave him the thumbs up! That was FUN!

#2 story:
Went to the track with my new set-up(ran a best of 14.5@100 with a crappy 2.4 60'). I came up against an older gentleman in his new Mustang V6. Now, the new V6 cars aren't too shabby, so I expected an OK race. I treed him and never looked back. I forgot how much I beat him by, but it was pretty bad. I kinda felt bad for him, and I don't remember seeing him race again that night...

#3 story:
Leaving a friend's house I was just minding my own buisness(having a little fun with the car, but nothing obnoxious) and I see this new looking Mustang just being a total douche weaving in and out of traffic behind me. I took off a but quick, but nothing illegal. He made his way around me and I proceeded to follow(noticing again that it's a V6 car). Well, I finally get up next to him and give it a little then slow down. He does the same, so I try to get it in to 3rd(synchro is not good, so it grinds) and he takes off. I grab my gear and get back next to him...I make sure to short shift so the BOV is in his ear(window was down) and I notice it's some old dude driving with a long white beard! LOL So I pulled the living crap out of him up to about 90...then just let off. He does a ricer fly by! Oh well...I had to turn anyways...I didn't feel bad about that one!

My friend has this '92 Daytona that he's had since we were in high school. He got it in '95. Since he got it, he's put a Super 60 on it among other things. The car has always been temperamental. It just won't run with some people behind the wheel. It has good days and bad days. Sometimes you get in it, start it up, and you know you just need to shut it off and drive something else. But no matter what, if there's a 5'oh next to you, no matter how bad she's been felling that day, good bye 5'oh.

At the dragstrip less than a year ago their was a pair of new black Mustang GTs going at it. Well I had been letting my car sit and I decided I wasn't going to get a new best time watching other people so I got in my Neon and lined up with one of the GTs. It ended up being both of our best runs of the day. Light turned green and he had a better reaction than me also he turned a 1.7 short time and I did a 2.0. I was like ----, hes gone. Then about 3 gears later I was at his door and when the end of the track came we were dead even, didn't know who won. I went to get my timeslip, my ET was .2 better than his however with the reaction times factored in I only beat him by 36 thousandeths of a second. Probably closest race of the day.

Years ago...probably 1990 if I remember correctly (maybe 1992) I was HEAVILY into street racing...so much so in fact that myself, Mike Vaughn and Steve Calder used to go out on weekends looking for "the kill"...we would dump the race gas in and crank up the base timing...and adjust the fish tank bleeds for a few more psi...great times...anyway...

One night in particular I was at the local street racing hangout without Mike or Steve. Most of the crowd knew what my car was capable as they had seen me mix it up at one time or another...but due to a few occurances and some hurt feelings I wasn't the most popular dude...lol. When I would get a run I usually got setup with modded cars because the stockers were a joke and they hated to see me whip up on their beloved fellow Mustangs. Back in 1990 my Shelby Z trapped 103 with a unbeknownst to me...misaligned cam centerline...once straightened out I think the car had a sub 13 to high 12 for sure...which then was very respectable...but no matter what these guys just wouldn't believe it until they saw it. Allot of the times the racing would start off $hit talking...and the few friends that I had would just giggle away while I proceeded to bench race my way into a run. I got known as being a little ----y...but the truth was I would get picked on terribly for my car...but once I was able to back it up i would let my mouth fly if provolked. One night we are all hanging out and a guy bet me 20 that i couldn't outrun a stock 5.0 from a dead stop (they all knew the traction problems associated with my car) and about that time in rolls a dude with a BRAND NEW forest green 5.0 GT. I remember very little about the car other than he had offroad pipe/exhaust...and he had painted the bottom of the car forest green instead of the silver that it came with...pretty car.

Anyway...the $hit talking and money exchanging hands started to commence. I knew i was going to have to pedal the car to get it to stick...but i knew i could pull him in 3rd if nothing else. We all bail into our rides and head out to the interstate...it must have been my little Z and about 20 stangs...and about 5 or 6 camaros...and a few misc. muscle cars...quite a show! Those that were going to watch went down a frontage road that overlooked our 1/4 mile stretch on the interstate. I remember being in my car and looking up the hill at all of the people watching over the race. i knew if I didn't win I was going to be laughed out of the joint we hung out at....i had to win...and i had to have a little respect.

We had a guy flag us and sevral spotters with two way radios. i got the signal to pull out onto the road and so did the stang. My left leg was shaking so bad i could hardly modulate the clutch...lol. Anyway...he dropped his arm and i dropped the hammer...instant tire spin...back out of it to let her catch and back in it...spin again...nail 2nd and just more spinning...pedal some more and i see the stang is out on me not quite a fender!...I'm cussing...and i pray for traction....about that time the top of second comes along and the tires catch...and just like a slingshot I instantly pull a car on the stang!...lol...i remember i just started celebrating and laughing...i speed shifted into third...giving no mercy to big headed 5.0 fanatics looking onward...into 4th I went with too many cars to count...the cats eyed headlights were in my rearview and i was just having the time of my life. it wasn't that it was a big deal to put it on a stang...done it more times than I could count on the street...but this was the first time in front of a HUGE crowd...it seemed that the whole local street racing underground was there.

...now, I went back for my 20...and had quite the reception...people pissed off...my cars on the bottle "did you see how he shot by that car at the top of second"?...man, i heard it all! I simply told them to keep the 20 and find themselves a sucker to run...i got in my venerable little Shelby...and when I left the trucking parking lot...I left the prettiest little smoke show anybody had ever seen...lol.

that race was talked about around here for months...to this very day...every once in awhile when I'm out I'll see people from back then and they still like to talk about it...and just like all street racing stories of yesterday...the fish just keeps getting bigger...lol.

Yesterday I had this late 90's V6 gaystain come up on me on the highway, it was all chromed out and had a flat black hood. I was going 55 and he wanted to go so all I had to do was drop it fourth and I still put about 5 cars lengths on him just going up to 85. I figured why bother dropping in third when I could beat him just as easy in fourth.

This happened way back when I was in high school with a car I no longer have. Not a Mustang but its' illigitimate brother the Capri.

Me and a friend are cruising around town in my newly acquired 85 Omni GLH-T. Bone stock. The car was totaled later that year by a newbie driver slaming into the back of me while I was stopped. It was as fast as anything I had ever been in up to that point. We would goad anyone into a little "run".

We pulled up to the 5.0 Capri at a red light. Looking over and reving the beast, they just laughed. 5 of 'em stuffed into that car, like a clown car. Light turned, we lit 'em up in 1st and 2nd. They were behind, by a bunch.

Pull up to the next light and their laughing faces were turned into looks of disbelief. "I wasn't racing, but we'll give you a go this time," the clown car leader said. I'll blow that little 4 door off the road." Excellent!

Light turned green and i got a great launch, feathering the clutch through 1st w/ a 3k launch, caught 2nd and put the hammer down. they were fading fast. 3-4 car lengths and falling when we slowed up.

Now we were the ones laughing. The driver of the Capri was pissed. His buddies were laughing. We pulled into a parking lot and he followed. It gets better.

He said, "I was too heavy, let me drop my friends off and i can beat ya'."
I about pissed myself laughing. Now he was still pissed and so were his friends, standing in the parking lot now.

We pulled out and a caught a light up ahead. Same launch and same result. He was closer than the last run, but he was not gaining on us at all. Victory!

I had a night of V8 killin at Tulsa Raceway Park in 2006. It was in my shadow, basically stock TII with bigger FMIC & 20psi. Ran several LS1 camaros/firebirds when a (2003?) supercharged cobra wanted some. Buddy of mine is a mustang guy, I heard him on the video sayin he "put the mustang on flats". Guess thats stang talk for "the mustang will win"??. Cobra did an impressive burnout, I modestly dusted of the street coopers. Announcer at the midnights loved my car all night. This stang was beautiful especially compared to my rusty 4 door shadow. Tree falls, I leave, he spins, I keep pullin, he keeps spinnin, then by the 1/8th the announcer says "How, how, how does a car that looks THAT good get beat THAT bad?" We all know the answer to that question. I ran a 13.98 to his 14.7 so he lined back up with me when we got back into staging, redemption? No, cuz a LT1 Vette wanted some humble pie too so they snaked in the vette. Crowd went nuts on every pass we made.:hail:

Mustangs are hardly worth the gas anymore...unless they are something special...stock GT's might as well be a Grand Am. Now, an older non-supercharged Cobra might be fun. I know someone who has one too. :eyebrows:

Actually wouldn't mind seeing how well I stand against a stock Terminator.

My '88 Shelby Z was a REALLY good race for a non-S/C Cobra(SN95 body style) with a few minor mods when I was running 18#'s and didn't have some other stuff done I do now. I pulled a fender on him once. He pulled on me once...then my clutch started to slip from the brake boosting so I had to quit(stock clutch at the time).

YEARS ago...id say about 7 or so, when I owed my beefed up 93 plymouth 3.0L duster. this is the car that fed my turbo mopar addiction, i had it modded to the max with bolt ons, and it was still nothing more then a low 15 second (street tire) car, but the 60 footers were nasty like 2.4-2.5. it would have easily been a mid-low 14 second car on slicks with traction.

so one day me and my cuz were cruising around looking for people to race, mind you I do not do this anymore. we are cruising down towards downtown, mid afternoon beautiful weather on a nice weekend, and a early 90s dark blue? notch back pulls up next to us. we hit a couple stop lights and the driver finally realizes I would like to play with his V8.

so as we roll up to the next stop light....he puts on a new song....all we hear is...DUH, DUH, DUH....(as we both look over)...queen....ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!!!! me and my cuz look at each other and know its on now!! the light goes green and tires start peeling, i threw it hard into 2nd(he was auto) and started pulling away from him...we only went to about 60mph (into 3rd some) b4 i let off cause he was a couple car lengths back already. as we come up to the next light, my cuz sticks his head out the window and screams DUH DUH DUH...another one bites the dust!!!! as 2 youngers a few years older then i was @ the time, were in a SUV, and we could hear them laughing their asses off....then the one guy screamed, YOU GOT BEAT BY A FAWKING DODGE SHADOW AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAH....the mustang decided to turn off the road @ this point to save himself some embarrassment

I was cruisin down the main drag in Red Deer, Alberta with my '89 Caravan and I saw an 04? Mustang GT coming up in my rear view. He blazes past me and as he does I see the flash of two-tone HOT PINK and black paint. I just had to beat him. The next light turns red and we are the only 2 people at a four lane intersection. I look over and it's a fairly young guy with his wife/girlfriend. And wouldn't you know it I've got 5 people in the van...
So the light turns green and I miss it, he jumps ahead just as I punch it and spin the tires trying to catch up. But I start to close in on him and right about the time I reach his rear bumper he lets off the gas and falls back right before i can claim the win. As he rolls past my brother sees him mouth the words "look at how many people are in that thing".
AAHAHAHA!
So he pulls from the far right lane all the way to the far left turning lane right after the next light turns red with another empty intersection. I watch him drive through the mall parking lot and then cross the street another intersection ahead of me to the opposite side. He took a detour through a mall parking lot on the wrong side of the street just so he wouldn't have to face me again!

This was last summer, but then about a week ago my buddy was at a party and he ended up talking to the owner of the pink mustang.

Driver: "Do you know who owns a little blue Caravan around here?"
Buddy: "Yeah I know him, why?"
Driver: "Because that thing destroyed my car!"

HAHAHAHA! I will never regret buying a turbo Caravan.

As an owning of each, I find this thread funny. There is one big difference between the Mach 1 and the Daytona. The Mach moves under it's own power. Seriously though each car has it's own appeal which is why I like them both. One has the roar of a V8 and the other has T-tops.

On a side note, enjoy beating up on the Mustang now because the 2011 GTs are slated to get the 5.0 Coyote engine from down under. They're rated around 400hp and 400ftlb torq. not the 225 or 260hp you guys are used to beating up on.

Before you think it, no I'm not saying the 2011 will beat everything on the road. I know there are TDs that are really fast. Only a fool doesn't realize that there is always something faster.

I agree with you that there's always faster out there.

By the time the Coyote 5.0 is released, I think I'll probably have it more than covered. Think 430+ wheel in a 2100 pound or less car. :eyebrows:

I believe the current batch of V6 Stangs are putting out more power than that. Power isnt' everything though. By the time that car comes out it'll be tipping the scales at 6000#'s and NEED the power to put down the same numbers as today's cars! LOL New car weights make me SICK! My Daytona is a pig a 3015#'s!!!

Accidentally posted this in the lounge. Probably should have gone here:

I was playing with a new GT500 yesterday. I was fully expecting to get the paint sucked right off my car.....I was only running 18 PSI, and the tune is way rich. Anyways, I represented pretty well.

He must have seen the big "Shelby" windshield logo or something because I was behind him at a light and he lit it right up, rear end squatting hard, etc. I took off after him, but for whatever reason my car likes to overboost the first time on it and he walked a bit when it cut out, but otherwise I was with him. So, the road opens up to a 4 lane road, so I gas it right by him with the blow off valve right in his ear . I make a right turn and he follows me around the corner all squirrely and sideways. He comes around the left side to pass so I gun it and held my own (he didnt pass), but there wasnt much room to wind things up......which would have been interesting (I dont think we went faster than 50 or 60 the whole time). I gave him the thumbs up and off we went our seperate ways.

What do those things run? I was pretty sure they were 11 second cars box stock.

this probably isn't all that impressive but i laid a beat down on some redneck in a V6 mustang that he thought was the cats A**. It was about a year or so ago and i had just pulled out of my work when this joker did the "my car is slow but i want you to think its fast" fly by. So i followed him up to main street and when we turned he got into it and i just kinda kept up, wasnt really trying. At the next light however he was lookin over and revving his V6 (haha) so i revved back, got a little RFL blow off action in his window lol (i think the pressure release may have messed up his mullett lol). Anyway we took off and I left him sittin, as i reflect on this event it seems like more and more of a waste of gas than anything. Anyhow...we caught the next light and he yelled out the window something about him not hitting 3000 RPM's or something i have no idea, so as the cross traffic light started changing i yelled back, "well try better this time" and we both took off again and yes again i left him sitting. So we come up to yet another traffic light and i asked him (this man was toothless) if he took his teeth out for weight savings, hahaha. That seemed to rightly piss him off so he took off and i let him go, no need to road rage.

Once the wheel hop issue is fixed they are a high 11 low 12 car with a decent driver. Doesn't take a good driver to do high 12's with a bone stock car either. An average driver should have no problem doing it. As far as being heavy I guess you haven't been paying attention to the weight of the Challenger or Camaro have you? All three are heavy. I do agree they are overpriced but I think the Challenger and Camaro are also overpriced. None of them are worth $43K.

After owning a '88 Ford Thunderbird Turbocoupe(VERY similar suspension as the Mustang of the same era) I can see their downfalls, shortcomings, and to a point their advantages. I've got friends who've owned them, modded them, and raced them. I've also ridden in them and sat in quite a few(newer and older). I just don't believe the hype and comotion made over them. I will admit the owners and drivers have swayed my opinion as well, but in all it just comes down to the fact that I think there are better options out there and that the car is not the end-all that many people think it is.

Admitedly there are some nice ones out there, and definatly some fast and well handling ones too, but you really have to thin the heard(so to speak) to find them....

That reminded me of the other day...not a Mustang but one of those newer Grand Prix GXP...I think they got v8's?
Anyway, I was going home and he was next to me. was kinda weaving in and out of traffic behind me and driving aggressively trying to get ahead, so when he finally maneuvered over until he was next to me, I rolled into it and he did the same. Pretty soon I was in it pretty good in 3rd gear.
My cal had a problem with fuel cut at 4500 rpm, so I kept cutting out like the rev limiter when I'd step into it. He basically stayed right with me the whole time, but couldn't pull.

We get to the light behind traffic and he rolls his window down and says "Not bad for an older little car like that!" I said "Yeah I know, it sucks I couldn't go over 10 pounds of boost and 4500 RPM because of fuel cut and a bad clutch!"
The look on his face was gold.

He asked "How much boost are you usually running?" I said "20" He just shook his head and smiled. I think any notion that he might have had a slight chance flew out the window right then.

Ran a guy several years ago when I had my 1st TD (89 Daytona, p&p, FMIC, modded turbo & G-valve) I was feeling froggy, when this Box-stock looking 5.0 pulled up and revved it. "Heh, you're going down, Pony-Boy!"

When I caught up to him at the next light, I waved him over, had to see what he was running...he blew me off by 5 lengths! He stopped at Taco Hell, I pulled up next to him, and he nicely popped his hood...dude had more money in turbos and nitrous than I had in my whole car...twin turbo, 500HP shot of giggle gas, the list went on and on...he was dyno'd at 1400 at the wheels!

Met him again on the track in my '71 Challenger...different story then...He asked how much I had in the motor, and was pissed he got beat by a $2000 rebuilt 383.

This goes for a lot of different cars. It's not the car.. its the owner.

But on the same topic.. the people at the gas station would not believe me when I told them that the Talon (when running.. lol!) and the Shelby both are faster cars than the Mustang is. They keep insisting that its a joke....

I found out that a lot of Mustangs can be all bark and no bite. A stock 5.0 with Flowmasters might sound mean as hell, but isn't going to give a mildly modded TD much trouble.

Ok, I have 2 more stories for the thread, both involving my Spirit R/T and the same Mustang owner. The first one was shortly after I got my Spirit R/T back in '05. It wasn't stock my any means, ported head and manifolds, 50 trim hybrid, +40s and calibration, etc. I went to Omaha to pick up a hood for the car, on the way there a red 5.0 hatch was next us that seemed like he wanted to play. We got lined up at a light, he had me through 1st, then I freight trained him through 2nd and 3rd. I got out of it when I had a busslength on him. He followed us all the way to the guys house we were getting the hood from, the previous owner of my car. I was a bit worried since the guy driving the Mustang was a big guy, not someone I would want to piss off. I was more than relieved when we got out and the Mustang driver and my car's PO were friends.

Fast forward 5 years to this summer. We had a big dinner and cruise in town, 150+ cars and 250 or so people. There was a some 'bible study' afterwards once the riff raff were gone. The guy with the 5.0 wants revenge for the butt whoopin I gave him years ago. Only thing now is my ported head is gone and he has a high 9 second 03/04 Cobra. I asked if I could have a 50 yard head start just so I can hang my head out the window and listen to the supercharger whine and to have time to lock the doors so they don't get blown off; he declines. Head up from a dig. Great  at least the taillights will be nice to look at. I warm up the slicks, he's on street tires. The hands drop. I have the best launch on the street I have ever had and pull him out of the hole. Shift to second and he's still behind me, but I can hear his tires screaming for mercy. 3rd gear is more of the same. Holy crap! I'm still in the lead! I hit 4th gear, getting close to the marker...oh can I hold him off???? Right about the century mark I stop hearing the tire squeal and he pulls by me like I'm standing still. I figure he had 2-3 cars on me at that point when we pass the finish. I have never been passed so quickly, it was like that car had a booster rocket on it! He's happy he finally got his revenge, while I'm on cloud nine knowing I held him off so well and did the best driving I ever have. Truly a moral win-win situation. :)

wow sleeping at the tree in the vid, good woopin though. i dont have a stang story, mainly cause i dont bother with them. i did run a nice 88ish cutlass just after getting my shadow, t1 165k bone stock, 5 speed. came arround a right turn right on his butt leaving work, he jumped to the outside lane, i took the inside. we both layed them wide open, sounded like a mild 350, loud exaust, prob mostly stock, big rims. we ran door to door to about 70. his eyes were pricelss when he couldnt pull on my white rust bucket. made my week. then i blew up the motor a few weeks ago running a new mazda on the freeway, wide open for a mile, my buddy marc in the pass seat just trying to get ahold of something. we were hauling azz. he hates riding with me now. i held him off, i think it was a new 3 serise. it was nice having a witness in a race for once. got off the freeway and limped her home....drive fast, take chances...

How about one told from the Mustang drivers point of view....
http://modifiedmustangs.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2062
Story goes just as he said, from a dig 1st and second gear did nothing but warm the tires up for thrid :eyebrows: We also went from a roll, it was not pretty.
Side note, he was a cool guy, actually most of the guys I hang out with are Mustang guys and they are all a great bunch of guys. A nice change of pace from a lot of the other Mustang guys I have dealt with in the past. As has been noted in proir posts, I think it comes down to them being an enthusiast that enjoys/respects vehicles. The SVO Capri just went to a megasquirt set-up and when he gets all the bugs worked out will be a very mean machine!

spr-t-23: that's very true. unfortunaly, most are not and are destroyed as a result. It makes me sad as it seems the SRT4 is headed down the same path, (the ones that actually live on before being crashed..lol!). Luckily the newer ECU's are pretty good at protecting itself.
reaper1: haha that would be a good match up! I'm sure that guys catches alot of crap from mustang owners.

I wonder if 100mph was the speed or was it well over that. As a Mustang owner (for years) and member of several forums, I've seen a lot of crash pictures at high speeds and none of them did that kind of damage to the firewall area.

Reaper1
03-23-2011, 12:01 AM
Wow...I have to agree, he was going MUCH faster than 100! That car was RIPPED apart. I understand that 100 is moving pretty well, but I just don't think there is enough inertia to do THAT sort of damage. I could be wrong, however, as those cars are pretty heavy. I didn't see the engine in ANY of those pictures...just the transmission. I wonder where that ended up?

bris09
03-23-2011, 08:10 AM
The engine is towards the end of the video. The view is from the back of the engine so all you see if the flywheel and a little bit of the heads.

dodgeshadowchik
03-23-2011, 09:28 AM
Wow...

I'd vote for over 100 as well. The last car I remember being that torn apart was a white SRT4; and I think they stated he was in the neighborhood of 120 mph or so.

They are lucky to have survived!! The SRT4 driver and passenger did not.

I had some punk kid in a Mustang riding my tail on the way home from work the other day. Hat all turned sideways leaning back and everything. Flashed the brakes a few times, but he wouldn't back off. I was already doing 5-10mph over the limit. Came to a 4-way stop, no traffic on the cross road. Floored it, left him sitting in a cloud of my tire smoke. I dropped down to 5mph UNDER the speed limit afterwards, he stayed very far back for about the next 6 miles before finally turning off. I guess he wasn't in that much of a hurry after all. :D

It wasn't a Mustang or a Turbo Mopar but it was a Dodge showing up a douche....

Going back home from one of my wife's soccer games a guy in an Evo tried to do a ricer fly by down a ramp onto the interstate. My wife and I were in my truck (1968 Dodge with a warmed up 440). I saw him, floored it and he didn't make it. He had to back out. Then on the interstate he tries going around. Again, no. My wife was laughing at him and pointing. I bet it made his day. http://boostedmopar.com/forums/images/smilies/pfbbt.gifhttp://boostedmopar.com/forums/images/smilies/pfbbt.gifhttp://boostedmopar.com/forums/images/smilies/pfbbt.gif

We then took the truck to go get some more lumber for some fence I'm working on.

Mine is just a basic D100. A work in progress. If you look at the full picture you can see how badly it needs body work.

guess ill bump this thread because i love beating down mustangs.

first is my story

back in highschool, junior year.. cars are relatively new to us. I was driving my new to me, v6 duster. My buddy had a 95 v6 mustang. Everything assumed that his car would be faster because it has .8 L on me and its a MUSTANG!! So we raced and i swear i came out of the hole like a built AWD dsm compared to how slow that mustang was.. i was halfway through first and hes already in the rear view.. i just kept going and going. Needless to say everyone at school was confused about my car and how its SUPER fast because i beat a mustang

2nd story with my buddies 2.4 NA neon. We were driving along and a gt mustang pulls up next to us.. early 2000s by the looks of it. He starts to take off so we downshift into third (could have gotten into 2nd) and pin it, AFR goes to 13.5 and we still pull on the mustang all the way to the next light. pshhh... mustangs.

only mustang i ever saw and liked was a S/C one that i got next to at a light.. i pinged my limiter because i wanted to see what he could do. IT sounded nice but he didnt play with me.

I remember back in the day when you could pick on Mustangs pretty easily, even with a mostly stock 3.0, but nowdays...you need a decent set-up to even keep up with V6 one! They are no joke!

Yah, mid 2000s they picked up their game on the V6es, but before that, they were pretty much a joke, especially V6 auto 'verts, "mostly stock" 3.0 Voyager ate more than a few for breakfast.

I'll show you a beating of one that I used kill every time I raced him back in 2008 and 2009 with my (at that time) high 12 second SRT4. You can barely see that his 13 second Mustang pulling a wheelie was given a nearly 1 second headstart by me back then. In 2010 he was a bit faster than me most of the times and this year he was in the 11.5 range while I was in the low 12s, but I still had 5 more mph than him on the top end. He still ended up # 1 in our United Manual Transmission Racers series...I was 3rd. He is redoing the car this winter so he can run in the faster UMTR clas called QS (Quick Stick) with a 7.5-11.99 range. The SS (Street Stick) class that I run (I'm the only guy that drives his car there and back) used to not have a dial in limit, but for 2012 it will limit dials to 10.5-17.99. There used to be a 19.99 slow end limit two years ago, but that was changed after a certain old fart drove his 3 banger Geo Metro in and made money in two of the three races he entered it in. In fact, the first guy I ever beat was dialed............
7.70 to my 19.90....we both ran .002 off our dial-in adn I got him by .006 because my RT was a .030 while his was a .036! My 65 mph topend charge was nothing compared to his 170+mph speed! I just noticed that in the Geo pic you can see another Mustang that I am getting ready to beat! His was in the high 10s back then.
