Ok, the small car show that a lot of us have gone to in the past, the "Anything On Wheels" car show in Mooresville is April 29 this year. Anyone up for going?? http://www.anythingonwheels.org/

Also, I think we need to plan something a get together at IRP sometime in early June or September. Now there is the Mopars at Indy June 2 -> 4 ( http://www.moparsatindy.com/2006/2006_index.html ) so that could suffice.

So Im thinking a get together in September would be good. What sucks is IRP has their 'tuesday night street legal' drags..... on tuesday! ;) They do have 'test and tune' days some saturdays, but I wonder how busy they will be??

anyone?

clay

fleckster
03-23-2006, 02:01 PM
Well since I work nights, the Groove Tuesday Test and Tune Night would probably not work out to well for me. The others are doable. I will be at the Chryslers at Indy event! I just need to get my Tent ordered so I can camp down there! :thumb:

Clay
03-23-2006, 02:37 PM
well, I think groovey tuesdays is out for anyone who lives any distance from Indy, and who has to work during the week. Thats why I think we should try to go to a test and tune on a saturday, but I dont know how crowded they get.

I live about 45mins from Indy and will attend some autocross and maybe some drag sessions.

Here's the 2006 Solo schedule (for all you REAL drivers out there.. hehe):

Why do all the events in my backyard at Grissom have to be at times when I can't go?!? May 21st out of town for a cousin's wedding after picking up Brother and Sister-in-law from Airport and won't be back until the 22nd. July 28-30th I'll be in Kansas for the SDAC-16/SRT Owners Event!

Even if its 5 to 10 guys or gals that would justify it I would think. It looks like we have 5 or more here already who are interested. Anyone up for something in september or october. No time like the present to plan some sory of get together ahead of time.

Well, it looks like Clay and I will be over that the Mopar Nationals and I think Tony Fields usually shows up too. I'm sure we could meet up over there and discuss things. That's only a week and a half away. Other than that I'm open but man, it needs to cool off so I can get some projects done around here!

If I get enough advance notice to clean the place up, I could have people over. I've had turbo/FWD Mopar get-togethers here before. Unfortunately, I didn't open the pool this year and have pretty much ignored the back yard so the weeds are scruffy back there. The front looks nice though! ;) And I have PLENTY of projects around for every one to help with! lol (That might be just the thing to help me finish stripping the drivetrain out of the van!)

Cool. Looks like most of us are around the central indiana region. I need to join national at this point myself. Looks like we got enough interest for a chapter so I guess at this point all we need is some sort of organized meeting to talk over everything. Guess it wouldnt hurt for me to get my Shelby going again either.

Can we have guys in the Indy Group who are such GM lovers? lol Rest assured, my Ram is ready and able to rescue anyone who has trouble. If my car broke down, I'd leave it until I could get a "proper" recovery vehicle. I've even had to rescue broken GM trucks with it on more than one occasion!

bradp
01-01-2008, 10:20 PM
We have plenty of Mopars to rescue someone. I only bought an 08 Chevy LWB 4x4 with GMS because it was $3500 cheaper than a similarly equipped Ram with EP. I was shocked at the price difference. We still have the Durango that will be used for the tow vehicle to SDAC. At least its not a Toyota Tundra, what a chintzy peace of S&!t.

and a great time was had by all!!!!

First let me say a big thanks to Brad for hosting the event, providing a warm place to work on stuff, a very nice place to watch the colts suck, and GOOD FOOD!!!!!!!!

Here are a few pics of us braving the outdoors to check out stargazers (not to be confused with Frank and Brian are gazers) GLHT.

I definitely had a blast getting together with everybody. I really want to send out a thanks to everybody that came and also for everybody helping 'tear' into the daytona, AGAIN! It was great to have the "td knowledge" all around me and help qualm the "disappointment(to put it lightly)" that I had seeing piss-poor compression on the #1 cyl. I'm hoping to get it back together soon and really see what a TD can do since it's been so long since I've had one run 100%.

I really want to say thanks to Brad and Fleck, they both went above and beyond for me yesterday. Brad provided a warm, perfect atmosphere for working, food, drinks, TV, and a place to leave ANOTHER broken TD! I also want to thank Fleck for giving me ANOTHER ride resulting from a broken TD. I know that having guys like this will guarantee I stay in contact with TM'ers no matter if I have a TD or not. It never ceases to amaze me the comradery(sp) and the way people will bend over backwards to help one another.

Again, thanks all for coming. I know that I wanted to host a "turbo rebuild" and work on Brads' car, but I guess I took his thunder with the broken Daytona. I definitely owe him one for sure and I want to thank Stargazer, and Clay for making the long drives to see us and hang out. I also want to note that Stargazers wife was cool enough to watch us work and benchrace and showed perfect patience the whole time. It really is cool to get everybody together in one place. Man I hope that I can get together again soon, but not working on MY TD though!! ;)

Thanks ALL!!! :D :thumb:

Umm... that's a big no... I could cry. Guess what, there are no more Mahle 2.5 .020 pistons left in the world, so I have to use a different brand cast piston. Good thing this car is going to "leave my hands soon."

I would be down trying to get maybe a monthly get together going or something...I've been looking for another reason to get together with friends and gorge myself on brats and sauerkraut since the football season is over anyways.

I wouldn't mind the get-togethers myself, as long as it's not working on MY POS TD because it has to run and is supposed to be a DD. I think that's the most disheartening part. I enjoy working on damn near any car when the finished result functions properly and of course, isn't "mine." ;)

ok guys, after having an absolute blast at the Kartopalooza this past weekend, I vote that at some point this spring we have a get together at Fast Times in Indy. Angelo from Kokomo here.....Indy opens for test and tune March 29. If you go on regular bracket race dates you usually get two passes...then wait forever to race. If you want to go to a place to make test passes then your best bet is US41 (Morroco). It's located about half way between Lafayette and Chicago off of US41...I go there to test out stuff and get about 12 passes while stii making small changes to the car. One time I nearly hot lapped it and about 20 in!

I got my charger running this weekend. I traded a lawn mower for this one. It had a blown head gasket when I got it. The cylinder walls had some light surface rust on them from sitting so long with a popped head gasket. The engine was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago though with mahle pistons and T2 rods. I dropped the pistons and honed the cylinder walls. I installed arp head studs and a mls head gasket. I still need to replace the mounts with my solid ones, replace a shifter cable and a few other little things. I also had to go through the car and remove all of the garbage lowes plumbing couplers and hose clamps with silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps. I also found some vampires clips here and there. It has a 60 trim turbo, big valve MP head that has been ported, ported intake, mp 460 cam, stage 5 cal, 3 bar map, power stroke FMIC, complete fuel system and some other stuff. I did a pull on 12 lbs in 3rd and the egts only got to 1420 so it was quite rich but it pulled pretty good. once I get the other stuff finished up on it the boost will start getting turned up.

My personal opinion...... and Ive said it before, if the participation is there, then it can be official. Nate,

When are you going to learn, man! The problem isn't with your Chrysler Product, it's problems from the previous owners and mechanics! You are dealing with 10-20 year old vehicles that were usually owned by people who definitely didn't know or care about automobile performance let alone and unfortunately for us, normal vehicle upkeep and maintenance. If you are lucky, most of them actually changed the oil once in a while! When they did, it sure wasn't with anything you or I would use in an engine of ours! Premium fuel in a turbocharged car??? Not these people! It cost more so there was no way they would use it. Factor in that these were originally never designed to be pushed to the levels we try to and you can start to understand why they break down like they do. That's the main reason why I purchased my SRT-4 when I did even though I sure didn't need it. I didn't want to get one down the road years later after some wiseass kid got done roddin' the hell out of it and end up with his problems. I bought it new!

And for what it's worth, I'd put my truck up against ANYTHING GM as far as lasting durability! Again, I bought it new and it's had all its service work done by me and nothing but Mobil 1 since new. And it's a Mopar and therefore has the "Extra Care In Engineering" that you don't get from Grandmothers Motors!

John Cory and myself plan on heading to the Indy Cylinder show at 9 am so we can get a head start on the day and maybe finish up some things around the farm. I didn't know who all planned on attending the show on Sunday, but we were curious on how many were planning on meeting up in Mooresville. I figure we could grill up some burgers and brats and maybe a couple beers or soda pops. I'm gonna try to get more than what we will need but I still want a ballpark figure. We're located on 6724 E. Hey guys, this is Cory. It looks like some of you are coming over to my house. Hopefully the weather will be nicer by then. Fleck, if you are stuck with the dog, you could always skip the swap meet and just meet us at the farm afterward. I have a dog and there is plenty of room to play if you want to bring your dog with you. :welcome:

Cory, I appreciate the offer, but I DO want to hit the swap meet as I do every year (although I usually only pick up a t-shirt or something) and I don't think my girlfriend would like it if I just let her little white Shi-Tsu run around on a farm. She is a serious interior lap dog and would probably just stand in one spot and shake in fear! lol She even dresses her up in sweaters and PJs and such!

I should be able to figure out someway to meet up with you guys. The earlier the better! I know the girlfriend will not yet me leave and go somewhere after she gets home from Florida on Sunday afternoon after being gone for almost a week.

Okay, I talked to her tonight and I think I have a plan that will work out. I can take her dog back to her house on my way down to Indy and leave her there since she will be home that afternoon around 1pm. She and her best friend that's in the group going are getting picked up by her friend's husband and she will get a ride back to their place which is where her car is. She will go home and I will stop back in after we are done at the swap meet and Cory's place. How's that for working stuff out?

Hell yeah Angelo you're more than welcome. Anyone is for that matter. Hopefully we can have a decent turn out. Like I said we're heading to the show early so we can finish getting the house ready and such. Anytime after 2 o'clock is fine. We're on Watson Rd which is the first road on the right off of Centenary Rd (which is Mann Rd south of 144).

Mapquest it...It's not too far off of 144 so it's not too hard to find.

Atta-boy Fleck for working out the dog situation...

Any way I can get a head count of those coming?

no turbo parts there anyway (for the most part), unless you want a garrett turbo off a turbo Liberty. There was something there I considered buying by didnt need. A guy had a bunch of left over stuff from a blue/silver shelby charger, including most of the ground effects and the rear hatch. $75 took it all.

I would, but I live in a residential neighborhood and there ain't SHITE to do at my place[ask BradP] or I would say have it there(Noblesville). Now, we could go out to my mom's place since it's way out in the sticks, but that is a farm and there ain't much to do there either. That's in Greenfield.

I'm game for meeting somewhere though and I know some of the guys here have places to hang out in Indy, but I'm certain that they have "smaller places" just like me they live at... :(

We need to all get together and watch a colts game and stuff our faces with beer and bratwursts and do some couch racing during the half-time. I volunteer to host a game whenever. For now I have a 50 inch HD rear projection TV but should have the theater room done by end of December if you would prefer to wait to have over 100 inches of hd projector colts action. BTW I bought my parents old house in Whiteland so I no longer live down south in the sticks of brown county. The house is only a few minutes off of 65 just south on Indy on 31.
