Today I had to steal the crank out of my shelby charger's motor so I can use it in my daytona's block.
When I started to take out the pistons and rods I found some cracking on #1 and #3. Once the rings were out they just fell apart:

I am assuming detonation caused this?
I was running 11 psi using 87 octane. Car had 103xxx miles on it, (stock 86 TI) I am thinking this is why just before I stopped driving the car it felt like it had very little power compared to when I first got it.
Its no big deal as the car had been put into storage, and the motor needed a rebuild anyway, but at least now I can say I broke my first set of pistons:p
