Hey Simon,Great reading for us first timers,it would seem that most of the stuff i have already done, does in fact work that way! got me thinking about custom headers, and some kind of intercooler Action,Oh my God,it sounds like a t2 Mod happening, now see what you started!

It's too technical for me to understand. Hehe
"The muffler is the can at the end of the exhaust whose job it is to make the exhaust quiet. "
But seriously, I've always wondered how a resonator worked. I think I am going to try running just a resonator where the cat used to be and the rest straight pipe. Its plenty quite now with just straight pipe, but does drone something terrible.

By using a resonator? What are you running for exhaust?

I have a 3 inch mandrel system, 2.5 inch dp for about 3 inches, smaller Magnaflow muffler at the rear of the van and side exit like stock. It droned so badly on 60-70 mph, my ears bled. Added a resonator tip, better but still there. Added a 12 inch Vibrant resonator before the gas tank, made it friggin worse-:banghead:
Put my 3 inch super cat back in, almost quiet again. Then I played with the cam timing, advanced it and now its so quiet inside. I took off the resonator tip and its even quieter, its eerie.

The Squish Bang Suck Blow or whatever were one of the best series of articles SCC has EVER DONE! Later installments goes over Superchargers vs turbo's and how to size your turbo appropriately.

No, I could'nt do the soup can mod. I did the resonator tip, sort of helped, then added the inline resonator and made it worse. Added the cat and it quietened down alot, then did the cam timing and it got even quieter, removed the tip and it got quieter,
