Nice find... And should be a REAL help to those fighting their department of motor vehicles over the title as a Dodge when MFG should be Shelby

^^ thats what i was thinking what couldve been !! imagine what that car wouldve done for chryslers image. a corvette fighter for pocket change. not to mention it would be easier for me to find a t3 motor.

I remember one of the reasons for not doing the '90 CSX was its sticker price would have been way above what anyone would have paid. Ho hum ...

The only thing Shelby had to do with the "Shelby Durango" is to license his name to Chrysler Performance West (no connection to the Chrysler Corporation).

The "Shelby Durango" was orignally built as the Super Pursuit 360 before they struck a deal with Shelby Licensing.

If the 90 CSX's were built I think they wouldve sat on dealers lots for a while. These cars wouldve been amazing performers but in all reality it was based on a Shadow. In the buying publics mind, paying a high price for a compact car just doesnt make sense. In 1990 Im sure the CSX wouldve been more than a couple thousand above the cost of an 89.
Case and point, in the late 60's when you could get a 440 in a dart or barracuda it was a great platform, and a real street sleeper but for the same price you couldve bought a 69 Coronet R/T with more power and a lot more stable at high speeds than a big block powered compact, and if you didnt go crazy with options it would be cheaper than the Big block A-body.

Wonder if this would have a problem getting Shelby on the title...oh wait, it does

Took that at the Detroit Autorama, thought youd get a kick out of it.

I didn't know he still used the Gardena, CA address, IIRC that was his 'tire warehouse' Maybe a driveby is in order to check it out. There's a couple of boneyards in Gardena:eyebrows:

I think Gardena is still his warehouse. I remember seeing an episode of "rides with funkmaster flex" where they interviewed Carroll at his California warehouse. In the background were a few shelby chargers, the twin turbo dakota, and the prototype shelby Ram pickup. Might be worth swinging by there and asking for a tour, if you get one we would love some pictures ;)

Alan,

You should consider stopping by and talking with them to see if we could hold April's meeting there. That would sure beat Applebees. We would probably have a record attendence too.
