Where should I put the knock sensor on my hybrid? I was originally going to put it in the center of the intake manifold flange but it would be in the way of the coil wire. What about between runners 1 and 2? I'm looking for some experienced advice.

ok well unless you have a modern tuning system that is going to run your engine it doesnt really matter. mine is off to the #4 side of the head. there was a port already drilled in the head so i just tapped it bigger to fit the sensor. its just that the knock sensor isnt exacly an accurate meassure to eliminate knock... is really just kinda there.

I'm looking for some experienced advice.

Logic and experience with GM knock systems told me to use the block,
as you can see there are plenty of tapped holes that can be chased
to match our knock sensor. What I found was a weak reading when I
had audible knock during early tuning runs. Then I started experimenting
with different spots on the head, again there are lots of options. The
hole I ended up tapping the same as the knock sensor was the holes
top/center of the exhaust mounting flange area:

I have two knock sensor in those two unused holes, easy to swap
the wire in case I think my sensor is questionable. After a lot
of daily driving and thrashing that area proved to give "my setup"
a good quick reading if I was doing something stupid :)

Oh another spot I kind of liked but never retried was below and
between the cam sprockets. There is a little boss sticking out
kinda tucked inside the motor mount area, tough to get to assembled
but it did read pretty good.

the 16v maserati's have them in the block on one of the un-used bosses by the front motor mount.
