those that made thickwall tubular exhaust manifolds for the 8v head, what weld el size did you use?

thanks

i have never made one for a td, but 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 is ushally what i use, i would imagine 1 1/4 woudl fit best on an 8v

IIR I used 1-5/8" but it was thin wall tube, not weld els.

yeah i was thinking of using the 1 1/2 which has a id of 1.5" or something like that.

You want it to be as close of a match (cross sectional area) to the ports on the head. 1.5" ID was too small for my ports ;)

yeah I was going to go by the size of the gasket/port size if I make one.

I cant decide. I either want:

1. to get a ported head and mod my intake and exhaust manifolds and get a bigger turbo
2. swap to a 16v head on my 2.5L with custom manifolds and bigger turbo
3. swap in a neon 2.0L dohc again with custom manifolds and bigger turbo.

so either way I am making manifolds and getting a bigger turbo. :)

I would go with the 2.4 if you're going to swap in a whole engine. Should get more torque and I think the cams are about the same as the srt-4.

Although maybe the 2.0 will rev higher? I'm not sure. I am putting a 2.4 in my 85 600ES convertible. That's gonna be a fun time. How's th V6 Reliant doin for you?

i think the 2.4L head on 2.5L should be pretty easy (see my headgasket thread) so I might do that. i dunno lol.

the v6 is good. all the interior needs to be put back together but it runs and rips all kinds of tire lol.
