single pin versus dual pin

I have used the single pin caliper for years and have always had trouble with the caliper ----ing sideways and this wears the pads uneven. :mad: I have tried new pin bushings, etc. The brackets may be the problem where the pads rest on them, but not much to do here except buy new ones.

I can find some dual pin calipers from the late 80's which have a bracket that goes around the rotor. You have to remove the bracket to get the rotor off. Not a big problem, if the dual pin caliper is better. Any bad news about these dual pin calipers????

I know the early 90's calipers are dual pin but the bracket bolts are farther apart and wont fit on the 80's spindle.

I honestly haven't seen many issues with the dual pin so I say go for it. Yep, 90 and older caliper brackets won't work on 91 and up, and of course, vice versa.

AFAIK all the 2-pin setups allow you to remove the rotor without messing with the caliper bracket. at least all the ones i've owned.

turbovanman - thanks for the info. think Ill go ahead with it.

vigo - this dual pin I have from a 87 chrysler new yorker will come off the bracket no problem but the caliper bracket has to be unbolted from the spindle to remove the rotor. Not too common but their out there.
