I am sure anyone with a L body knows how the shelby chargers rear panels get all nasty looking.I have decided to get some fine sandpaper and remove the dried look and plan on using some interior paint on them once I get them all sanded. My question is has anyone tried this and is there anything I need to know about certian paints to make it look good ?

I believe they sell a dye for vynal. That might get the color back without the danger of sanding off the texture.

I know what you mean about those panels getting all nasty looking...I'm thinking of re-doing mine as well.

Cordes, You need to sand them... they basically Start flaking and require sanding

Thanks Ken. I spent the majority of the summer under the hood of my omni, so I did not get a chance to inspect the trim too closly.

I would immagine that a super fine grit paper (500gr) would be good to use without damaging them?

I would start out with maybe a 240 grit and work my way up to 600.

SEM makes excellent vinyl spray on dye!

A little off subject but check out the interior on this Charger. Anyone ever thought of recovering their interior in tweed? I don't think it looks half bad.

That looks about 10X better than my old NA charger interior did.

Ive always been a fan of tweed, but that comes from my street rod days.

If you can find someone to do it reasonably, go for it. The door panels and seats would be the hard part, everything else you can probably do yourself.
