Ok. I'll be buying slicks over the winter. Here's what I need out of these tires.

1) AT LEAST 23 inches tall. As it stands, I go through the traps at 5900 rpm's and I plan to be making more power next year so I wanted something taller so I don't have to over-speed the engine or shift to 5th.

2) I don't want to have to modify my struts to coil-overs. I currently run koni's and cut-down g body springs.

3) I seem to have room for about 25 inches. This does not include any tire "growth" at the top end of the track.

4) I haven't measured the clearance of the stock tires to the strut. Stock tire size is 205/50r15. Also stock wheel studs are being used. It's no big deal to change them if need be.

I'd like to know from all you slick users which tires you think would work the best for me. Trap speeds are currently 108 mph, but this should improve to possibly 110.

if you are only going in a straight line, put on K-car brakes and run a 13" rim, then use Goodyear D200 series asphalt circle track racing tire. the are 23" dia, 8"+ width. they hook up awsome are cheap and fit the car very nicely. Plus with 13" wheels and these tires, your rotating mass goes way down which increases accelleration tremendously.

I love the 24.5" X 8.5" 15" rim M&H's but is depends on power, which trans and FDR too.

One example, my Shadow with the A555/A520 3.50:1 hybrid setup bogs on a good track from 5k rpm with the 24.5's but launches great with the 23" tires.

To run the 24.5's, you'll need to space the wheel out 1/2 inch or more but I can't wait to try them this summer, had good luck with 22's, consistant 1.9's but they spun very easily and were a bit too short.

For the weekend, I borrowed a pair of slicks my buddy has for his srt-4. I just test fitted them this morning. The slicks are 24.5 X8X15 MT. They're on a 15X6.5"?? (not usre on the width) PT steel rims.

The clearance is close to the strut perch brace, but only about 1/8 to 1/4" closer than the stock 205/50 r 15's. The size is camparable too, they're just a bit taller than the stock sized tires and about the same width. This may be just what I'm after.

Still fighting with my new camera to get pictures downloaded
