There is two different types of blocks for turbo motors. There is the pre-common block and common block engine.

For the non turbo motors there is also a 3rd block that is a Tall block pre-common block motor for the old N/A 2.5s

To tell the difference between the two blocks is pretty simple. On the front side of the block there will be a fuel pump block off plate on the pre common block engines (84-88). On the Common block (89+) there is no block of plate because the fuel pump was not cast into the block

would the pre CB t2 block be considered different? I know its crossdrilled and i THINK its a little bit beefier

no beefier, but I guess the cross drilling counts as slightly different

I am going to wait to put this one together until I pull in a few more resources to do it all at once and get the format I am looking for.

Maybe this weekend.

I have seen an early 90s TII replacement block. It uses a precommon block crank, but it has a stronger bottom end like a common block. Ive only ever seen one though.
