i'm doing an l-body engine bay myself right now, i am using all the pix from the factory brochures and the original articles/pictures from 1986 as a guideline for colors and finishes and configuration. of all the aspects of car restoration i think the engine bay is the most challenging, fun, and frustrating portion.

Kevin very nicely done. clean and simple.

Thanks. I wanted the car to look fairly stock when I started this project. I'm a big fan of the stock look, so you won't see any fancy workmanship or unnecessary bling under my hood. Not that such is bad. ;) The SDS coil packs kinda screwed that up.

I'm going to paint the coilpack base black and find some black plug wires. The new alternator looks much better than the one in the pictures. The one pictured is the original with 21 years of use and abuse.

Thanks.

The bov is loud, it's the Turbo XS Type-H-RFL(really effin loud), but I've heard louder. Here's a little vid of me at SDAC-14, you can hear the bov... http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=137&cat=500&ppuser=58

Joey & I are using an IC Stephane Beauregard made for us. Both the in & out are on the same side similar to a stock T2 IC yet it is a side to side flowing IC. The air enters on the bottom into the end tank, flows through the core then up the end tank & over on top of the core to the outlet.

Nice pics guys :thumb:

Rather stock but clean; the MP wires are now black Xact and dist cap is black.

Should be a new advance auto battery in there soon:

Here's a recent pic of mine showing the new 3/8" fuel line going in to the modified stock rail by the driver side. The steel braided line on the other end is for the fuel psi gauge. The return uses the original 5/16" feeder & the 1/4" return has been removed.

sorry. Im using the stock 85 omni rad.

You have no idea how glad I am to hear that. I have the same radiator for my Charger, and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to fit my piping around it for the new IC I just got.

Devilish, where did you get that distribution block and what did it run you?

The Distrubtion block is from a company called Audio Pipe, i used to work at a stereo shop that sold them. I think i paid around $15, but retail is probably around $30, still a good deal. it's a VERY nice piece imo. it has a (1)0-4ga Pwr input with (4)-8ga outputs, same for the ground. I ran 4ga wire from the battery to the block for both power and ground. i grounded the battery about 6" from the terminal, and ground the dist.block about 6" from the distblock as well. has had no electrical issues with that yet, but something with my alt is goofy. check www.audiopipe.com . check my webpage for a few more pics of the battery install & wiring if youre interested.

The cover is made out of 1/8" pvc plastic. go to any local sign/sticker shop, and ask for the 3mm Sintra. there are lots of colors and it's only a couple bucks per sq ft. it cuts easily with a finetooth jigsaw, and bends easily with a heat gun. make a carboard template first though, MUCH easier.

on a side note, i'm using my stock radiator as well. i made some new mounting tabs on the bottom and scooted it over a good 2.5"-3" to fit the FMIC pipeing through.

good luck with your projects!

yea my rad is moved over to just about touching the alt. I made a bracked that bolts on to the top of the trans mount to move it over and out a little bit. worked out pretty slick. but i had to get a diff fan because the stocker was hitting the oil filter. i just went to the junkyard and got a slim one of a chevy caprise that someone put electric fans on.

There are some awesome looking engines out there!!

Here's a few of mine, nothing special.

my 84 Rampage (ex airport truck - I call it the TUG), probably the only car here with an hour meter under the hood.

My 85 GLH-Turbo, all the old school DC parts on this one. Since the pic the timing cover has gone back on to hide the rusty pulley.

Nope, it's a stock 85 block so I've got the square tooth pulley's on it. Thanks foe the offer however.
