Simon,

I'm looking at my shipping tag to LWP that I shipped my TIII head to. It was the FULL head, minus valve covers and cam sprockets, but had the manifolds in the box. Using UPS it was 91lbs, so minus a couple of pounds for the manifolds (around 12), packing materials and boxes, I'd say about 75-80lbs. This was in a box measuring 24"x14.5"x14.5" and cost $76.36 to ship UPS ground from Blaine, WA 98230 to Salina, KS 67401.

Simon,
I have a TIII head with valve/springs, No cams or rockers on it. I'll weigh it tonight when I get home. That weight plus weights the others are providing should get you pretty close.

TIII Head with valves, springs & retainers and aluminium core plugs only = 44 lbs.

Not doubting your word as you've just did it, but I'm sitting here scratching my head thinking if I had anything else in the box to make it weigh so much. Or maybe I'm giving the manifolds less weight than they deserve. In any case, 44 lbs it is.

Hey Blue, ship me your TIII head to show me how much it weighs. :eyebrows: :wow1: :peace:

Sorry Will, you wouldn't want this old head. It's cracked and got almost 18,000 miles on it.

hehe reading this old thread reminds me of a funny story..

i bought a complete T3 head in Los Angeles one time while travelling on business and took it back on the plane with me when i left --- avoided any overage charges by putting the head in one box and taking the cams and rocker assy's off and putting them them in my carry-on, cam gears in the front of my laptop case. the head itself boxed up was less than the 50lbs max they allowed per piece of checked luggage, carry on bags were a little heavy but everything got home a-ok.

I remember the first time I picked up my TIII head after pulling the Head/Intake/Exhaust/Turbo off using my engine hoist to do a head gasket on it. I was like: WOW This thing is HEAVY! LOL
