I've been wanting to do this for years, I love my truck but its a dog and hook up my trailer, forget it. So I finally got my Vortec 350, which I will freshen up with a cam and maybe headers. I can get the motor mounts and will surf the web like crazy for swap info but if anyone has any info they can give me, that would be great.

I have the full engine with injector, a V8 computer and the extra wiring for the computer to injectors. I need to know about cooling, how to program the comp so it works etc. Any links you can throw my way would be great.

s10 v8 wants you to sign up but there is still some useful info.

If I remember correctly you will need a certain kind of headers for this swap to clear the steering box. From what I have gathered it seems to be a pretty straight forward and well documeted swap.

I planned on doing a v8 s10 before I settled on my daytona. Hope that helps.

Good choice! Vortec 350s are pretty stout. There's a local guy that put a 383 stroker in an El Camino a few years back and ran 12.10s on the motor with Vortec heads.

SummitRacing.com has headers for a 350 in an S10/Blazer/Jimmy. Shortys are $140 for the pair http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HED%2D69520&N=700+115&autoview=sku

There's also a V8 forum at www.s10forum.com that has some interesting stuff you might find helpful.

You probably don't need the JagsThatRun book, it's mostly for 1st gens anyway. If you think you do, go ahead and buy it, they seem to be pretty good books. I have one for the Datsun Z Series V8 swap, it's helpful but the car was too rusted out and I never got around to a swap.

Thanks, I found a few forums and read for about 3 hours last night. I can buy a kit with mounts, headers, oil pan, book etc for $650, I think thats at s10.com.
Yeah, the book is for 1st gen and doesn't cover mine, I found a few guys that have done it and they had the computer reflashed. I know the accessories and wiring is a bolt on, 4.3 and 5.7 are the same externally and even use the same fuel pressure, :D

I'll document my progress on here when I start doing it, probably winter time, need to save up and freshen up the used motor I bought first.
